Exhibit attendees to experience an all-new post-press team at Print09

Press release from the issuing company

Muller Martini's evolutionary 3696 Gathering Machine and Orbit Three-Knife Trimmer to make their U.S. debut

Visitors to Muller Martini Booth #1137 at Print09 will have the opportunity to view live demonstrations of the highly flexible, space-saving 3696 Gathering Machine, as well as the Orbit Three-Knife Trimmer.  Both machines are well-suited for the mid- and high performance range.

The 3696 Gathering Machine can process the widest range of products in its class, from standard book printing to complex magazines or brochures.  The feeders deliver uniquely reliable signature separation, ensuring greater stability and performance.  The signature is completely enveloped in a cushion of separating air and then held firmly as it transports safely out of the hopper, enabling even difficult signatures to be processed safely and efficiently.  This unique innovation will be demonstrated during the show.

The 3696 Gathering Machine runs at speeds of up to 12,000 cycles per hour while maintaining very high process reliability.  Other advantages include:
•    Increased flexibility thanks to various feeders and electrostatic charging of inserts
•    Modular, space-saving design
•    Short set-up times thanks to simple settings and loading from both sides
•    Comprehensive quality controls

Next up?  Muller Martini's robust Orbit Three-Knife Trimmer.  It takes care of the cutting, easily trimming up to 80mm at 7,200 cph.  Its unique level of automation reduces make-ready times to no more than three minutes.  Moreover, all of the Trimmer's settings can be optimized as the machine is running, so that the required quality and productivity can be achieved within the shortest time possible.  The Trimmer features a unique servo-driven SmartPress technology that ensures consistent cutting conditions.  The technology provides for a gentle, controlled pressing process in which air between the paper can fully escape from the product.  This approach to compact book pressing is the optimal precondition for the perfect trim.

Print09 takes place September 11-16 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.  It is the largest US tradeshow held for graphic design, digital prepress, printing, publishing and converting technology, encompassing nearly one million net square feet of exhibit space.  Muller Martini's product experts will be available in the booth to provide specific ideas as to how these technologies can help printers and binderies continue to thrive.
