Newsweek Goes Live with Teambase Workgroup Publishing System

Press release from the issuing company

New York, NY -- Newsweek Magazine recently completed production of its much-heralded magazine re-design. At the center of this effort was their Teambase workgroup publishing system, designed and developed by Agile Enterprise, a division of HudsonYards.

Newsweek switched its QuarkXPress-based production to Adobe InDesign and InCopy in a single publication cycle. Teambase's Adobe CS4 plug-in brought the advantages of InCopy and InDesign to Newsweek's Teambase publishing system, which handles permissions, file versioning automation, notifications, publication tracking, photo editing, XML co-purposing and more.

"Teambase was installed at Newsweek in 1996 and has been a critical component of our production workflow ever since. Over the years we've researched competing systems to ensure our production process is always the most efficient possible, Teambase has come out on top each time with features that are superior to their competitors. The timely release of their Adobe CS4 Plug-in for InDesign/InCopy was a significant contribution to the success of our re-engineered production workflow " - Joe Bingham, Director of Emerging Technologies at Newsweek.

"We've been aware for some time of the publishing industry's growing interest in adopting an Adobe Creative Suite workflow. This past year we've seen customers make a serious commitment to change." said Jim Van Zile, Vice President and Business Manager for Agile Enterprise. "Adobe has done an exceptional job with a fairly seamless suite of solutions out-of-the-box, but our customers have requirements that go beyond print. With CS4, Adobe has allowed us, as a publishing platform developer, to focus more on the intelligence gathering and reporting capabilities of Teambase."

The Adobe CS4 InDesign/InCopy Plug-in, expanded XML publishing, a publication-status viewer, and new tools for photo editing, data automation, web interaction and archiving are among the capabilities available in the latest release of Agile's Teambase Publishing Solutions Platform.

"The editorial industry is and has been going through significant challenges and changes, but it has also been providing us with new opportunities. Integrating a web content management solution, enhancing Teambase's web client, and assisting our customers with migrations to Adobe CS4 is keeping us busier than ever."
