Press release from the issuing company

Toronto – Transcontinental is pleased to announce that Quarto Communications Limited, the publisher of Cottage Life and explore magazines, has acquired two of its magazines, Outdoor Canada and Canadian Home Workshop. This transaction follows a review of Transcontinental's business objectives.

"We are very happy with this transaction because it allows us to focus better on our core products, said Pierre Marcoux, Senior Vice President of Transcontinental Media's Business and Consumer Solutions Group. I'd like to thank the employees of these two magazines for their passion, support and dedication over the past several years. I also wish the new purchaser a highly successful continuation of these two publications."

Al Zikovitz, president of Quarto Communications Ltd., said that these two established magazines are a perfect complement to Quarto's existing lifestyle properties. Mr Zikovitz expressed pride at being associated with the two prestige publications and welcomed the new members to his team. "We are pleased and honoured to continue publishing Outdoor Canada and Canadian Home Workshop, prestigious names in their respective markets, in large part due to the excellent work done by the publishing staff at the two magazines. We are eager to start working with them." The employees at both magazines will continue with Mr. Zikovitz's group.

Canadian Home Workshop has been Canada's largest home improvement and woodworking magazine since 1972. It offers homeowners trade secrets, tips and advice from renovation and carpentry professionals so they can take on their own do-it-yourself projects and create the home of their dreams. Canadian Home Workshop also produces a highly successful annual consumer show.

Outdoor Canada is Canada's only national magazine dedicated to traditional outdoor sports, and has served anglers, hunters and protectors of nature since 1972. The magazine has an extremely strong brand and identity among outdoors people.
