Agfa adds new features to the :Dotrix Modular digital press

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL (PRINT, Booth #2600) - Agfa Graphics today announced the availability of two powerful new features on its :Dotrix Modular digital UV inkjet press.

The new Express Print Mode increases productivity from an already impressive 4800 linear ft/hr to 6300 ft/hr, meaning a capacity improvement of 35%.  Agfa's press is built on grayscale ink jet technology. Express Print Mode influences the ink drop volume of these grayscale inkjet heads without affecting the print resolution. This results in effective printing speeds up to 13,020.03 sq. ft/hr thereby increasing efficiency and lowering production costs.

Moreover, Agfa has also enhanced the color matching capabilities on the :Dotrix,  with its new 6-color extended gamut capabilities (CMYKOV). This ensures the best possible color match to meet the requirements of brand packaging, as well as other color-specific applications. The expanded color gamut also means :Dotrix can match 90% of all Pantone colors and numerous spot colors. Printers/converters and their customers can be confident that output produced on :Dotrix Modular will meet the demanding color and packaging industry requirements.
In today's economic climate, high quality is the standard. Yet, cost cutting, effectively managing supply chain, reducing waste and increasing speed to market are also paramount.

As a result, print-buyers are driving the demand for innovation in digital printing. Since its introduction to the marketplace, Agfa has continually invested and enhanced the :Dotrix Modular to meet the expanding needs of  the packaging industry and specialty markets. Agfa now introduces additional enhancements to fit the growing needs of these consumers. According to Jan De Vooght, :Dotrix Sales and Marketing Manager at Agfa Graphics, "The time is now. Today, more than ever, customers are driving the demand for innovation in digital printing and Agfa has responded with the :Dotrix Modular."

The Express Print Mode is commercially available now and the expanded color gamut will be commercially available beginning in 2010. These enhancements are offered as an option to new presses and upgrade kits are available for installed presses.  The :Dotrix Modular makes its North American debut at Print '09 Chicago. Print '09 attendees, the media and industry experts will also have the opportunity to see the press running live and learn about the newest enhancements to Agfa's entire portfolio of prepress and inkjet solutions at the Agfa Graphics News Conference on September 11, 2009 at 10:30am in McCormick Place Booth #2600, South Hall.
