Webcom Expands its Paper Inventory; Eco-Friendly Options

Press release from the issuing company

TORONTO -- As seen in the two documents attached, Webcom is making the move to a comprehensive paper inventory to allow customers a wider selection and more versatility in solutions to printing needs. As part of this, the company is evolving its environmental characteristics and is now extending the Legacy line to a complete cover stock program, making more recycled content covers available. Paper options are increasing from 19 grades to 28 grades, divided into three unique lines: Legacy, Standard Publishing and Select Savings. Each grouping of paper grades is streamlined for different publishing strategies.

Expanding on the existing Legacy line, Webcom's commitment to the environment has increased as has their commitment to the customer. Environmental integrity is more affordable than ever, in some cases with growth from only 30% recycled post-consumer waste to 100%, without increasing in price. Eight out of the ten Legacy grades carry the Ancient Forest Friendly symbol, all with 100% recycled content. Most are also certified by the Forest Stewardship Coucil (FSC) for their environmental integrity. These environmentally friendly papers are also a functional choice, as they are suited to both digital and traditional printing.

The all new Select Savings line as been developed explicitly to address needs for significant cost savings on the most commonly used format sizes for book production. This line features a wide variety of options, from 22 to 60-lb basis weight papers, and even a number of FSC-certified grades. Economic-minded publishers can save as much as 30% off the cost of paper on standardized trim sizes.

"The choices we make go beyond our company. They create a ripple effect, impacting the industry, our customers, the environment, and we are responsible for that impact. As leader in the industry, Webcom will continue to make the choices that will benefit business and society while minimizing our carbon footprint through progressive improvement." Mike Collinge, President of Webcom Inc.

Our Standard Publishing line is created from our core selection, presenting the most commonly used paper grades accommodating the broadest range of format sizes. All mainstream weights from 40-lb to 60-lb papers are now FSC-certified. This means that although they are "virgin" papers, containing no recycled material, the methods used to harvest materials for them are socially and environmentally responsible, avoiding practices like clear-cutting and mass deforestation. Moreover, Webcom offers the benefit of this more responsible selection at the same cost.
