Ebsco Media Installs New Komori Lithrone

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL  -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Ebsco Media, Birmingham, Alabama’s largest commercial printer, has installed a four-color Lithrone S40 (LS440) with perfecting and coating capabilities. The investment is a big change for the company’s Birmingham plant, which formerly operated with all manroland presses. Ebsco Media’s decision to buy the Komori LS440 was carefully analyzed in a two-year review process focused on print quality, stability, productivity, user-friendliness, and willingness of the manufacturer to be a true business partner. “We carefully considered all the press providers, and Komori addressed each of our review requirements the best,” said Landers Sevier IV, vice president and general manager of Ebsco Media. “Clearly, Komori also wants a satisfied customer. From the sales process to the training sessions, every aspect of our partnership has been extremely satisfying. Because of this, Ebsco Media is currently preparing a press bay for the next Komori, which will be the new AI series.”

Ebsco Media has always operated with a focus on personalizing service to each customer. To this end, the company is fully utilizing the LS440’s extensive press capability, including the ability to produce materials which require high print quality and aqueous coating.

In addition to the print quality provided by the LS440, Ebsco Media is also enjoying higher productivity, and reports a 66% decrease in makeready time. “The LS440 has allowed us to eliminate color variation and dot gain,” stated Sevier. The press operators are also impressed with the LS440’s automatic plate changing system, and the automatic washing systems that help achieve its significant reduction in makeready time.

“Ebsco Media is a company that delivers on its promise of state-of-the-art customer service by deploying the best technologies available,” said Mark Hopkins, vice president of sales for Komori’s Central East region. “We’re pleased to assist them in serving more customers, more efficiently with the extensive operability and capability of the LS440.”
