Reinvent:Print educational theater launches at Print 09

Press release from the issuing company

The Graphic Art Show Company (GASC) is launching an educational theater to "Reinvent Print." The theater will feature an impressive line up of more than a dozen industry experts who will speak on various hot topics in the industry. "We are excited about working with Adobe to provide an innovative approach to help the print industry understand the enormous opportunity to expand and adopt new technologies to help them connect with customers," states Chris Price, Vice President of GASC.

The theater, in booth 6129 at Print 09, is the launch of a campaign entitled "Reinvent:Print." The campaign uses an educational approach to empower graphic arts professionals with the right tools and technologies to allow them to continue to produce outstanding print content, while helping them to expand their service offerings to include new forms of media. "It is our goal to enlighten, rather than to overwhelm." commented Janice Reese, Executive Director of Network PDF, and coordinator of the Reinvent:Print campaign. "We've chosen to approach the topic of "marketing services" from an educational angle. We find that if you can give people information and choices in an environment that promotes interaction and dialogue, they will be more open to explore the possibilities."

Presentations from Adobe Certified Experts (ACEs) will cover the business potential of social media, cross-media workflows, and will also explore the leading edge capabilities of creative applications such Adobe InDesign. Adobe product managers will discuss next generation PDF print workflows, including PDF for VDP, enabled by the Adobe PDF Print Engine.

"Marketing professionals can create cutting edge designs with Adobe Creative Suite applications with full confidence that their vision will be accurately reproduced on press when rendered by the Adobe PDF Print Engine," says Raman Nagpal, senior director, Print and Scan division at Adobe. "End-to-end workflows based on PDF, the best-of-breed imaging model for graphically rich content, streamline production and deliver maximum consistency and reliability to all job stakeholders."

As an interesting case study, James Wamser of Sells Printing will share how their organization made the transition from an Adobe Postscript workflow to an end-to-end Adobe PDF workflow.

The free 30-minute educational sessions run throughout the show and begin each day at 10:30 am. The topics focus on the trends driving the industry including Social Media Marketing, Using Technology to Connect with Creatives, Direct Mail Innovation, Softproofing for the Future of Print, Building Your Business Through Stylish Email, Technologies Transforming Print Today, Powering the Next Generation of PDF Workflows, and much more. The show begins with a presentation by David Dodd of Point Balance, entitled "Why Marketing Services?"  David comments, "This session will discuss the competitive forces that are driving a growing number of printing companies to expand into marketing services.  We'll talk about what it means to be a marketing services provider and what it takes to make a successful transition from printer to Marketing Services Provider."

As a special bonus, David has created a report that can be received by attendees that are interested in "The New Business of Marketing." For information about how you can receive a PDF of David Dodd's report, contact Janice Reese at [email protected].
