Lyon, July 23, 2008 – Alwan Color Expertise is proud to announce that its Dynamic DeviceLinks technology is a recipient of a 2008 PIA/GATF (Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation) InterTech Technology Award. Alwan Dynamic DeviceLinks was selected from among 28 solutions entered in this prestigious competition.
Inaugurated in 1978 to foster awareness and understanding of advanced graphic arts technology, the PIA/GATF InterTech Awards honor excellence in innovative technology for the graphic communications industry.
"We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition, and we are thankful for the judges' understanding and appreciation of Alwan Dynamic DeviceLinks technology. The graphic arts community holds the InterTech Award in high esteem, and knows that the Judges' assessments are meaningful confirmations of a technology's potential value. It's a tremendous testament to the worthiness of our breakthrough developments in achieving accurate color for production," says Elie Khoury, Alwan Founder and President.
Mark Bohan, Vice President, Research and Technology at PIA/GATF, in summarizing the InterTech Award judges' selection of Alwan Dynamic DeviceLinks technology, says "This provides one of the few ways to get device links to work properly in the digital printing environment, and gets color synchronization between offset and digital. There were very strong testimonials with the application. The product provides relief for people who have banged their heads against the wall for years."
Alwan Customers Who Supported Dynamic DeviceLinks Technology:
Alwan CMYK Optimizer based on Dynamic DeviceLinks technology receives high praise from Michael Meyer, Graphics Technology Manager, Bemis Company Inc. in his InterTech nomination letter: "We've tried so many types of color management. We've been trying to tackle color predictability from file to plate to press on behalf of our worldwide clientele for years. We were early users of closed loop digital proofing and color management, but we didn't hit on the right solution until we found Alwan, last summer."
Alwan received accolades from Kent Eilenfeldt, Prepress Manager for Schumann Printers. In his InterTech Award nomination letter, Eilenfeldt said, "I am privileged to testify to the level of excellence that is found in Alwan Color's Dynamic DeviceLinks technology, which is core to its software products including CMYK Optimizer."
"The newest version of CMYK Optimizer has eliminated hundreds if not thousands of hours of wasted back and forth with clients because we needed modifications to PDFs. This product automatically catches problems and fixes them.
In his recommendation letter, Gregory Hill, Manager, Electronic Systems, Sandy Alexander, Inc. says: 'Our in-house color scientist heard about Dynamic DeviceLinks technology found in Alwan Color products, and encouraged me to take a look. He downloaded the software in the spring of 2007, and we've been using it ever since."
"With Alwan we are achieving improved printability, better proof matches, and faster make-readies – consistently and automatically. The time and ink savings alone are tremendous."
