Pitman President Joe Demharter To Leave Company In 2009

TOTOWA, NJ, May 22, 2008 - Pitman Company, the leading independent North American graphic arts supplier, has announced that Joe Demharter, who has been President of the company since 2001, will step down from the post at the close of the company's current fiscal year on March 31, 2009. In accordance with the terms of his agreement with the company, he'll remain on the Board of Directors and enter into a consulting arrangement.

Peter J. Moore, Executive Vice President, Sales, has been named to succeed him as President on April 1, 2009.

Commenting on Joe's decision, Paul F. Schmidt, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pitman, noted, "Joe has headed the company during the technology revolution that has dramatically changed the business dynamics of the graphics industry. In that environment, he expanded our portfolio of digital products and support services, successfully completed several important acquisitions that have widened our marketplace, and become a very visible and recognized industry leader. His valuable contributions have positioned Pitman Company for the next exciting phase of our growth when Peter Moore assumes the post."

Mr. Moore stated "I am very pleased to have been named by Peter Schmidt to succeed Joe Demharter as President of Pitman. I am honored by Peter's confidence in me to continue Pitman's legacy of leadership and the strong capabilities that enable us to stay in the forefront of new technologies. Following Joe in the post will be challenging, but he and I will be working together through the extended period that he is providing to assure a smooth and successful transition when he concludes his service as president."

Mr. Demharter observed, "I have been privileged to have been part of an exciting period in Pitman's century of service to the graphic arts industry. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a great management team at Pitman and know that I will be leaving the company's future in good hands."

Mr. Moore has 28 years of experience in the graphic industry. He began his career with Pitman in 1991, advancing through several positions within the company, starting as Sales Manager and then Branch Manager of the company's Exton location. He then moved on to positions as Mid-Atlantic Manager for Sales and Operations, Northeast Regional Vice President for Sales and Operations, Mid-West Regional Vice President for Sales and Operations and Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Company. His industry experience prior to Pitman includes sales management posts with Agfa and 3M Company. He is a graduate of Villanova University.
