Press release from the issuing company
Tuesday April 17 -- BOSTON-- EFI, the world leader in color digital print servers, superwide format printers, and business management software, today announced that the newest versions of the company's powerful solutions that optimize color control, connectivity, content flow and aggregation, and business applications designed for Canon devices and part of the Canon imagePRESS Workflow Solution program will be on display in the Canon booth (#1400) at AIIM On Demand, April 17 - 19.
EFI's next-generation Digital StoreFront(TM) web-to-print platform, MicroPress, the industry-leading, color and black & white, raster-based workflow solution for use with Canon imageRUNNER devices, and the new Fiery JDF Connector will be showcased along with the next-generation Fiery platform designed for the Canon C7000VP digital print engine.
"EFI is a great partner for us, and today's new product launches continue EFI's legacy of providing innovative solutions that lead to greater productivity, efficiency and profitability for Canon's customers," said Tod Pike, senior vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A.
Fiery-driven Canon imagePRESS Server A3000
Specifically designed to drive the Canon C7000VP digital printer, this server is based on the newest, most advanced Fiery platform ever from EFI, lauded for consistently precise color, advanced connectivity, high quality, sophisticated workflow, and ease of use. Featuring an exciting new look, the next-generation Fiery platform for Canon customers delivers leading-edge WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) job composition and imposition tools, workflow automation, professional quality color, advanced production tools, and flexible and open VDP capabilities. The Fiery-driven Canon imagePRESS Server A3000 integrates with EFI business management software and prepress solutions via the newest version of the standards-based EFI Fiery JDF Connector, which includes compatibility with Canon imageWARE Prepress Manager. The Fiery JDF Connector provides Canon commercial print customers with an accurate, efficient production workflow - from capturing the designer's original intent to real-time estimating, accounting and billing, to producing brilliant digital output.
EFI Digital StoreFront 3.0
Digital StoreFront is EFI's web-to-print platform that enables Canon production customers to create a unique, intuitive shopping experience for their customers, allowing them to easily navigate through a full suite of print products and services (including personalized items and managed catalogs) all in one place. Digital StoreFront also provides powerful back-end automation for production environments, acting as an on-ramp to their digital production workflow and print management, reducing data entry, decreasing the likelihood of print errors, and reducing labor costs. The newest version of Digital StoreFront includes a redesigned user interface, enabling easy branding and customization of sites to support a wide variety of customer relationships.
New MicroPress Connectivity Kit for the Color imageRUNNER C5180/C4580/C4080
The new EFI MicroPress Connectivity Kit for the Color imageRUNNER C5180/C4580/C4080 provides a true mid-production document solution targeted towards environments such as central reprographic departments, print for pay and digital print shops. This new EFI MicroPress connectivity to the Canon Color imageRUNNER C5180/C4580/C4080, along with the current optional connectivity to the black-and-white Canon imageRUNNER 7105 series, completes the mid-production reprographic requirements, enabling complex documents to be split between color and black-and-white devices. For example, all color pages can be automatically routed to Canon imageRUNNER C5180/C4580/C4080 devices for printing, and then merged with monochrome pages using the insertion unit on an imageRUNNER 7105 Series for professional finishing such as perfect binding. This combination of controller technology and printing is now attainable at a greater value than ever before.
EFI Micropress is the uniquely raster-based color and black and white powerful production workflow solution that simplifies complex job construction by automating labor-intensive processes such as hand collating, tab inserting, document renumbering and booklet creating, and minimizes the need for re-RIPing. Additionally, EFI ratchets up the color capability in MicoPress by integrating the industry's leading tools for consistent, high-quality color. MicroPress users now have strengthened color power with the integration of ColorWise ProTools, EFI's popular color print production management suite and EFI Spot On, a feature that provides the ability to measure and manage spot colors, particularly relevant in print service providers' achieving corporate colors. With MicroPress, print service providers have an unprecedented two-punch production workflow power: top speed and accurate, high-quality color.
"Extending the long-standing, successful EFI-Canon collaboration with these new solutions means customers will benefit from the increasingly powerful combination of Canon digital color quality in a production engine and state-of-the-art technology from EFI," said Mehran Farimani, senior vice president and general manager, Fiery products, EFI. "From our best Fiery ever, to our new Digital StoreFront and MicroPress, seamless integration via the enhanced Fiery JDF Connector to EFI business management software and our connectivity to prepress applications - EFI solutions for Canon customers are designed to help them grow their business, increase their productivity, and ultimately print to win."
