KODAK PRINERGY Business Link Software Version 3.0 Brings Automated Data Exchange to More MIS Solutions via ICS Compliance
Press release from the issuing company
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 20 -- The latest version of KODAK PRINERGY Business Link Software opens up connectivity to automate the exchange of data between KODAK PRINERGY Workflow Systems and a wider range of Management Information System (MIS) environments. PRINERGY Business Link Software Version 3.0 now fully supports the latest CIP4 MIS to Prepress Interoperability Conformance Specification (ICS).
Using the JDF open standard, PRINERGY Business Link Software provides immediate access to production data such as prepress events, machine time and material usage, and sends the data to a printer’s MIS. By enabling direct integration between a printer’s prepress workflow management system and MIS, PRINERGY Business Link Software allows customers to automate time consuming job setup tasks and gives them accurate, real time information about a job.
PRINERGY Business Link Software Version 3.0 works with ICS compliant MIS systems from EFI, Gamsys, Heidelberg, Hiflex, Tosbac, Tharstern and Technique. It also performs with systems from MIS vendors via the Networked Graphic Production (NGP) JDF interface, including Compri, Hiflex, IXact, Optimus, PrintPlus, Prism and Rogler.
“PRINERGY Business Link Software can help printers improve profitability by reducing guesswork associated with jobs, facilitating a better response to customer demands, and, with Version 3.0, enabling a higher degree of automation in the workflow than previously available,” said Jon Bracken, Vice President, Marketing and Channels, Enterprise Solutions, Eastman Kodak Company. “Automating data exchange provides better inventory management, creates accurate invoices, and allows more efficient production processes.”
PDC Tangen, a commercial printer in Norway, has seen savings in time and money since installing PRINERGY Business Link Software.
“We’re now automating 40 minutes of manual labor per job, which has contributed to our prepress department operating at 44 percent greater efficiency,” said Halvor Børresen, Production Manager, PDC Tangen. “The JDF integration enabled by PRINERGY Business Link Software saves us 780,000 Euro per year when jobs are produced in the automated workflow.”
PDC Tangen was recently selected as the first place winner of the 2007 CIPPI Award in the category of “Best cost/benefit realization as a result of process automation implementation.” PDC Tangen was recognized for its investment in JDF, which has paid itself back 20 times in five years.
