Sandy Alexander Issues Environmental Responsibility Report

Press release from the issuing company

[Clifton, NJ. September, 21, 2007] – Sandy Alexander, a national leader in environmentally responsible graphic communications solutions, has released its first-ever Environmental Responsibility Report to stakeholders. This new report reviews the company’s comprehensive program to reduce its environmental footprint at each of its two commercial printing facilities.
As detailed in the report, Sandy Alexander’s comprehensive environmental responsibility program incorporates three key elements: energy conservation and carbon footprint reduction; waste reduction and expanded recycling; and communications and education.
“Sandy Alexander continues to lead the commercial printing industry by example by reducing our environmental footprint and demonstrating that environmental responsibility is a sound business practice,” said Roy Grossman, Sandy Alexander’s President and CEO.  “By making our goals and performance transparent to our many stakeholder groups, this report takes us a step forward on the path toward true sustainability.”
Included in the report is a discussion of Sandy Alexander’s progress toward meeting its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 85% or more by the year 2012.  This goal was announced last year as part of the company’s participation in the EPA’s Climate Leaders program. The company’s progress is assessed annually in independent, third-party audits.
“Sandy Alexander is a firm believer in using changes in operating practices to improve our environmental performance,” said Chip Stine, Senior Vice President at Sandy Alexander. “While a lot of media attention has been given to companies who obtain carbon credits to offset their carbon footprint, we think the more responsible approach is to tackle the serious work of changing operations to reduce greenhouse gasses, rather than relying on credits as an easy solution while continuing business as usual.”
Fulfilling its purpose as a factual critique of operations, Sandy Alexander’s Environmental Responsibility Report also identifies areas of needed improvement, and examines the opportunities and challenges facing the company as it moves forward on the path toward sustainability.  Sandy Alexander intends to issue an Environmental Responsibility Report to its stakeholders on an annual basis.
A printed copy of the report can be obtained by contacting Sandy Alexander at  973-470-8100, and the report can be viewed in electronic form at the company’s website: www.sandyinc.com.
