Most Advanced EFI Fiery Platform Drives Xerox DocuColor 8000AP Digital Press
Press release from the issuing company
FOSTER CITY, Calif.-- EFI, the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation and Xerox Corporation, today announced the most advanced Fiery platform to drive the Xerox DocuColor® 8000AP Digital Press, the EX8000AP. Clocking a 65 percent faster RIP (raster image processing) speed over its popular Fiery predecessor, the new Fiery for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP enables Xerox customers to "print to win," compete more effectively in extreme printing environments, where engine utilization, speed, advanced color management, variable data printing (VDP) capability and integration are critical to success and profitability. The new print server, which launched with the DocuColor 8000AP (80 pages per minute) last month and is immediately available, is based on the Fiery technology that won the 2007 BERTL's Best Innovation Award and designed for DocuColor 8000AP customers in Graphic Arts, Print for Pay, Commercial Printing and Corporate Reproduction Departments (CRD).
"Over our long successful history together, EFI has delivered products that help our customers improve competitiveness, efficiency and profitability," said Jerry Murray, vice president, product marketing, Xerox Production Systems Group. "The newest advancements in the new Fiery continue that legacy, delivering the highest levels of image quality, productivity, speed, reliability, workflow and value for our DocuColor 8000AP customers."
"Customers deploying the Fiery designed for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP benefit from the powerful combination of a Xerox digital production engine and state-of-the-art technology from EFI," said Frank Mallozzi, senior vice president, marketing and sales, EFI. "EFI solutions for Xerox customers are designed to drive print service providers' success, improving their engine utilization and return on investment and enabling them to address their customers' demands for value-added services, like variable data printing."
EFI has enhanced this new Fiery to make the DocuColor 8000AP the print service provider's most competitive weapon. Including a new industrial design, the new Fiery platform enables customers to get the most out of their engine and their people. Renowned for its intuitive user experience, the EX8000AP features a unique Visual Workflow that optimizes productivity by providing job progress at-a-glance.
The new Fiery for the Xerox DocuColor EX8000AP makes it easier for print service providers to satisfy their customers' unique needs, from the simplest to the most complex applications and ever shorter timelines. The powerful Fiery-driven print server delivers new revenue stream opportunities, such as high-value VDP. EFI has forged partnerships with the leading third-party personalization software providers and supports such VDP languages as industry standard PPML (Personalized Print Markup Language), Xerox® VIPP (Variable-data Intelligent PostScript Printware), and Fiery FreeForm(TM), and a host of additional legacy proprietary languages, ensuring that the Fiery platform readily integrates into existing workflows and delivers consistency regardless of whether the job is VDP or non-VDP. The advanced Fiery job management capabilities enable print service providers to tailor their production process to the type of work they do.
Underscored by the Fiery being the only digital front end for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP to pass the Altona technical test, a critical industry benchmark, EFI delivers the industry's most advanced color features. The new Fiery for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP also features EFI Fiery ColorWise®, the EFI in-RIP color management system, delivering color that is consistent across applications, computer platforms, color spaces, and color file formats, the Graphic Arts Package, Premium Edition, with expert-level tools for graphic arts professionals, and Compose, which delivers powerful functionality for complex document make-ready. Additionally, the new Fiery integrates EFI's award-winning Color Profiler Suite profiling solution, which enables graphic arts professionals to create, visualize, test and edit color profiles using a single profiling solution and achieve the highest color quality at all times.
With the Fiery open platform and compliance with industry standards such JDF (Job Definition Format), PDF (Portable Document Format), and PPML, the Fiery color digital print server for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP readily installs in any technology environment and easily accommodates change in that environment.
The Fiery for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP serves as a gateway to third-party technologies, EFI products such as Colorproof(TM) XF for proofing and with EFI business management software and prepress solutions, and Xerox FreeFlow® solutions. The Fiery for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP seamlessly integrates into the EFI business management workflow to bridge the production aspects of the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP with customers' print shop business management systems. This integration improves accuracy, speeds production, reduces costs, supports plant-wide optimization, and impacts the print service provider's profit potential.
EFI's additional partnerships with leading third-party pre-press software providers help ensure Xerox DocuColor 8000AP customers' success in migrating to an offset/digital hybrid environment, and the new Fiery includes a number of production automation and workflow management features that further support the seamless integration of digital and offset prepress workflows.
The Fiery for the Xerox DocuColor 8000AP and other EFI solutions designed for Xerox customers are immediately available through the Xerox direct sales force, resellers, agents and concessionaires. More information can be found at www.xerox.com.
