Mazzucchelli and Agfa Graphics agree on jumbo plate-setter deal

(June 12, 2008) At DRUPA 08, MC Grafica Srl, the prepress company of Grafiche Mazzucchelli SpA (Italy) has selected Agfa Graphics to provide the complete "jumbo" plate setter system :Avalon N48.

As presses grow, also plate setters and printing plates have to become larger. Grafiche Mazzucchelli SpA, one of the most important Italian web printers will install the Goss "Sunday 5000" 96 up web press in the Seriate plant (Bergamo, Italy). To supply the plates to this system, they choose Agfa's Avalon 48N, the first "Jumbo" plate setter for this market. The system will be set-up with pallet loading and dual plate option, imaging 18 plates/hour. With this installation, Agfa Graphics also introduces the P970 plates sizing around 2900mm (48 up) with 0.4mm thickness designed for robust handling.

"Our big investment in this Goss press is now completed with the appropriate CtP," said Pierluigi Guerini, general manager of Grafiche Mazzucchelli, "we will integrate it in our :Apogee workflow which is robust and supports the daily production of over thousand PDFs already for five years."

The complete system and the plates are planned to be installed early in January 2009.
