Navigator GPS With Hybrid Workflow Support Released

Ann Arbor, Michigan – August 9, 2007 – Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management software and workflow solutions, today announced the latest release of Navigator GPS, with RIP Manager 3.3 and Navigator RIP 7.2.1.
The new release offers users significant enhancements and increased capabilities including:
- Hybrid workflow functionality for on-demand digital output devices
- Enhanced job search functionality in RIP Manager client for Windows and Macintosh
- New Enfocus preflight library supporting PitStop 7
- Enhanced output device communication providing greater feedback on output status to the operator
- Latest RIP core technology from Global Graphics Software

The hybrid workflow capability provides connectivity to PRISM, Xitron’s short-run digital color output device. Users have the ability to control print functions such as duplexing, tray selection, print count and paper type directly from the Navigator GPS client software. Reducing the need for an operator to leave their workstation to perform tasks increases productivity and reduces common errors workflow automation.
Users with a high daily volume of jobs or who retain jobs online for reruns will benefit from the enhanced search functionality. The search quickly locates matches in the job name, job number and any text in the custom fields such as status.
This release of the PDF Tools option is compatible with PitStop 7 and contains new built-in Action Lists that automate the fixing of many color issues commonly found in documents submitted by customers.
A new Universal Printer Plug-in, which adds the ability to drive virtually any printer with a Windows driver, is available as an option for use with this release. This new plug-in allows users to take advantage of existing printers and multi-function devices already in use in their business as additional concept or text proofing devices. The Universal Printer Plug-in is in addition to the proofing plug-ins offered for Epson, HP and Canon inkjet printers. The Epson, HP and Canon plug-ins provide high-quality, color managed output for contract proofs.
The RIP Manager application of Navigator GPS provides a workflow for use with virtually any Harlequin Windows-based RIP version 6 or above. In addition to the basic job management capabilities including the ability to support up to ten simultaneous operators and control three different RIPs, a PDF Tools options incorporated automated creation of PDF files from PostScript and preflighting based on the Enfocus PDF software library.
