ICS Partners with Arbor Day Foundation to Donate Trees on Behalf of its Customers

Press release from the issuing company

New York - December 13, 2007 - Printers, publishers, advertising and design agencies as well as pre-media studios and trade shops worldwide can now proof with a clean conscience. Integrated Color Solutions (ICS), developers of the leading soft proofing solution, Remote Director, is partnering with The Arbor Day Foundation to support awareness of the environment in the printing industry.  In 2008, ICS will donate a tree in the name of each of its new and renewing customers.
According to the Washington DC-based American Forest & Paper Association, a single cord of wood from a tree can yield one of these approximate quantities of product:
- 1,000-2,000 pounds of paper (depending on the process)
- 942 100-page, hard-cover books
- 61,370 No. 10 business envelopes
- 4,384,000 commemorative-sized postage stamps
- 460,000 personal checks
- 1,200 copies of National Geographic
- 2,700 copies of an average daily newspaper
"The Foundation applauds ICS for its commitment to planting trees.  The company's generosity will make a positive impact on the environment that will benefit this and future generations," says Kevin Sandler, Director of Corporate Partnerships, The Arbor Day Foundation.
"The trees we are planting in honor of our customers will contribute to a healthier environment," says ICS president, Jeffrey Silverman.  "The Arbor Day Foundation's programs make it possible for whole communities of people and businesses to not only become aware, but to take important action and participate in positive change."
In addition to supporting this Arbor Day Foundation program, ICS solutions promote the reduction of materials used in print production.  Leading companies such as Digital Color Concepts have reduced hardcopy proofing by as much as 75% using ICS' Remote Director proofing solution.  According to Paul Codi, Digital Color Concepts' Operations Manager, before Remote Director; the company would produce more than 1,000 hard copy proofs each month.  While saving resources was not the primary reason for using the ICS soft proofing solution, it was a positive benefit.
