OneVision Launches Newest Versions of Asura and Solvero Prepress Software
Press release from the issuing company
Tuesday December 4, 2007 - REGENSBURG, Germany & JERSEY CITY, N.J. - OneVision, a global provider of prepress and premedia software solutions to the printing and publishing industries, announced the launch of Asura 9.0 and Solvero 9.0, the company's flagship software products that streamline and automate the file control, optimization and normalization processes in print production. The latest versions of Asura and Solvero include new functionality and upgrades that enhance usability, increase efficiency and improve automation in prepress workflows.
In addition to checking, correcting and outputting files in PDF, EPS, and PostScript formats, Asura 9.0 and Solvero 9.0 are now compatible with XPS (XML Paper Specification), the new file type for graphics produced using Windows Vista from Microsoft. The required conversion into the file format needed for the RIP can either be done automatically with Asura or manually with Solvero. With Solvero 9.0, text, images and graphics of XPS files can be edited along with PDF, PostScript or EPS files.
Overall, the software is designed to improve the user experience and provide additional file management and configuration options. For example, Asura 9.0 and Solvero 9.0 support XMP metadata; include a new transparency flattening engine; and feature six JPEG compression options. Other improvements have been made in file queue prioritization and control, and the software now provides increased flexibility in conducting preflight checks. Solvero 9.0 also includes new enhancements for editing text, images, graphics and colors.
Other advances include "downward compatibility," which enables users to convert various versions of PDFs into an earlier format compatible with their workflows. For example, PDF 1.7 can be converted into PostScript I.
Printers and publishers around the world use OneVision's solutions to enhance their prepress workflows. Juan Pablo Kutianski, Technical Analyst at the newspaper Clarín in Argentina said, "Asura helped us redefine our old workflow. By passing files through Asura, we increased the productivity, flexibility and confidence in our workflow system. We have the extra benefit of accepting different kinds of file formats that normally we can't accept. And most importantly, we saved time."
Siobhain Towell, Vice President of Marketing at OneVision, Inc., said, "We designed Asura 9.0 and Solvero 9.0 to provide printers and publishers with an even higher degree of control and increased automation. Over 80 new features, capabilities and improvements were made based on the direct feedback of our customers. The new versions were also designed with compatibility in mind, so that users can both utilize their existing infrastructure and easily evolve to new file formats. The new features will help printers and publishers improve and enhance their service by adapting to the special preferences of each customer."
