Xeikon to demonstrate solutions On Demand

Press release from the issuing company

Itasca, IL, February 25, 2008 - Xeikon (On Demand Booth #1638) will demonstrate a fully automated book production solution and a range of unique digital color applications at the On Demand Conference and Exposition in Boston, MA from March 04-06, 2008. These applications will be printed on the Xeikon 6000 digital color press, the flagship product of the company.

The Xeikon 6000 is uniquely positioned to produce fully personalized, full-color books ?on demand?. Unlike the other digital color presses, the Xeikon 6000 does not have any frame or sheet size restrictions. It has a web width of 20? and virtually no restriction on the length of the printed page. This format flexibility, combined with an unparalleled speed of 170 letter-size pages per minute, enable the Xeikon 6000 to produce a higher number book blocks during a specific print run compared to the competitive offerings. Depending upon the page size, these book blocks can be produced 1-up, 2-up or even 3-up on the Xeikon 6000, enabling book publishers and printers to achieve higher production volumes and economies of scale while reducing production costs.

Due to its format flexibility, the Xeikon 6000 is also the only digital color press capable of producing large format book covers/wraps. In addition, the Xeikon 6000 can easily handle substrates from 27 lb text (40 gsm) to122 lb cover (16-pt. board), providing a range of substrate options to its users.

Another vital aspect of the Xeikon 6000 is that it can be easily integrated with various inline and offline finishing solutions. As a result, the Xeikon technology is uniquely positioned to provide a truly streamlined book production workflow, generating fully converted ready-to-read books.

The Xeikon exhibit at the On Demand show will also feature its X-800 Digital Front-End. The X-800 is a truly open, modular and scalable digital front-end, compatible with most of the leading workflow software solutions. It delivers cutting-edge workflow management tools and superior VDP/Web-to-Print capabilities. All the applications at the Xeikon booth would be printed using its Pantone®-licensed Form Adapted (FA) toner technology that has superior image quality and enhanced color gamut capabilities.

Xeikon will also exhibit a range of unique digital color applications at the show. These applications fall into two major categories ? ones that can only be produced on the Xeikon technology and others that can be produced with the highest productivity and profit margins on the Xeikon technology. Xeikon will have valuable demonstration tools at its booth to highlight the business proposition behind each of these applications.

According to Michael V. Ring, CMO and VP-Business Development, Xeikon/Punch Graphix Americas, ?The Xeikon platform is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of the high-end digital color market space. Our technological superiority directly translates into sustainable competitive advantages for our customers. We are looking forward to exhibiting at the On Demand show. It is a premier industry event that will allow us to showcase our capabilities and the linkage between our technology and a greater application reach, resulting in higher revenues for print providers.?
