HP Introduces Enterprise Printing Solutions for Financial Services and Public Sector Markets

Press release from the issuing company

November 14, 2007 - HP today announced two enterprise imaging and printing solutions for the financial services and public sector markets.
The offerings build upon HP's Print 2.0 strategy by providing industry-specific offerings that streamline workflows and reduce costs for enterprises.
HP Compliant Document Capture for Financial Services helps financial institutions streamline critical document workflows, while simultaneously providing the increased document security, audit trails and archival capabilities required by industry regulations.
HP Document Capture Solution for Evidence of Identity is designed to help government agencies securely process and issue identity documents such as driver's licenses and passports.
Both were introduced at the company's annual enterprise customer and partner conference, ImagePrint 2007.
Also at the event, HP recognized several partners that have achieved Platinum and Gold-level memberships in the HP Solutions Business Partner Program - a standards-based program for companies whose solutions interoperate and integrate with HP offerings to address customers' specific business challenges.
"Enterprise customers are facing new challenges and opportunities with how paper-based and digital information is used and managed," said Bruce Dahlgren, senior vice president, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. "By helping businesses develop practical plans to optimize and manage their infrastructures and workflows, HP is making our customers' devices more strategic while meeting their environmental objectives."
Improving workflows for financial services and public sector organizations
HP Compliant Document Capture for Financial Services is a bundled solution of HP multifunction printers and HP Scanjet scanners, software and services that help financial institutions comply with the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). The directive requires financial services firms operating within the European Union and the European Economic Area to maintain for five years all transaction records, including paper, emails and electronically formatted documents, relating to any securities transaction in a non-rewritable and non-erasable format.
The solution complements the recently announced HP Compliant Document Capture Solution for SEC Regulation 17a.
HP Document Capture Solution for Evidence of Identity is powered by HP hardware, software and services, and captures, stores and retrieves important identity documents so government agencies can accurately issue citizen documentation, such as state and national ID cards or passports, with enhanced security features. The offering allows for comprehensive audits of workflow environments to help agencies comply with global identity regulatory requirements.
Effective December 2009, the U.S. REAL ID Act of 2005, intended to assure identity, mandates national standards for state-issued driver's licenses and non-driver's identification cards. HP's new solution effectively and seamlessly integrates these new requirements into government document and information workflows to enable a more effective and secure archival process.
HP Solutions Business Partner Program gains momentum
Through its Solutions Business Partner Program, HP works with qualified, strategic partners for capturing, routing, indexing, storing and delivering documents and content more securely and cost-effectively.
Six companies - Capella, Equitrac, JetMobile, Kofax, Omtool and Safecom - have achieved Platinum-level membership for their ability to enhance HP offerings through their respective worldwide, business-critical imaging and printing solutions.
HP and its Platinum partners invest technical resources to ensure the combination of HP devices and the partners' solutions offer clear and measurable advantages to enterprise customers. Together they perform rigorous testing of the solution for seamless integration. Enterprise customers have the option to purchase Platinum partner solutions and service directly from HP, and thereby receive support through one point of contact for the entire offering.
Captaris, EPSoft, MPI, Pharos and Troy have become Gold-level partners, which provide strategically important imaging and printing solutions in specific geographies and vertical markets. Gold partner solutions are supported with validation testing and integration planning. Enterprise customers have the option to buy Gold partner solutions and services directly from HP, which will coordinate service delivery between the Gold partners and customers.
HP continues to identify qualified solutions partners that are strategic to the Solutions Business Partner Program objectives.
