PALO ALTO, Calif., June 15, 2007 – HP today announced that its new RIP certification initiative for the new HP Designjet Z6100 Printer series has tested and certified ONYX ProductionHouse 7.0 and ONYX PosterShop version 7.0 workflow solution software from ONYX Graphics, extending the number of software options for HP large-format customers. These certifications continue HP’s process of aligning essential user performance expectations and the unique capabilities of the printer series for a wide range of large-format printing applications. In addition to compatibility assurance, customers have even more flexibility and choice in RIP solutions.
The HP Designjet Z6100 Certification Program, the industry’s first RIP certification program for third-party vendors, provides graphics professionals, print service providers and technical designers working in color-critical environments with enhanced compatibility and confidence in the complete solution. Specifically, the ONYX solutions, the latest third-party RIP products to be certified, provide high levels of functionality and interoperability to users with its universal workflow solution and increased control over workflows.
“Today’s announcement demonstrates HP’s leadership in taking RIP-developer programs further than ever before with more reliable choices to choose from,” said Enrique Lores, vice president and general manager, Large Format Printing Division, HP. “With this certification initiative, HP is setting the benchmark in the large-format printing industry to ensure an enhanced user experience across businesses and workflow preferences. The HP Designjet Z6100 Certification Program guarantees our developer program measures up to the high performance standards of the HP Designjet Z6100.”
RIPs that have achieved certified status carry the unique “Certified for HP Designjet Z6100” designation. Certification tests for the HP Designjet Z6100 include print quality, throughput performance and other important characteristics of printer management and job handling. Certified RIPs also offer profiles for a range of HP media.
“The HP Designjet Z6100 printer is easy to use and produces vibrant color output,” said Dean Derhak, product and OEM director, ONYX Graphics. “It is an impressive successor to the HP Designjet 5500. With the HP Designjet Z6100 printer series, HP is continuing its legacy of delivering consistently high-quality printing solutions.”
This certification program expands HP’s already extensive solution development program, which provides third-party software developers access to hardware, Software Development Kits (SDKs) and additional resources to assist in the creation of solutions compatible with HP large-format printers. Onyx also provides support for the HP Designjets Z2100 and Z3100.
