Sewickley, PA, March 26, 2007 -- Remi Marcoux, President of Transcontinental Direct USA, Inc. based in Montreal has been named the recipient of the Web Offset Association’s (WOA) ninth annual Harry V. Quadracci VISION Award… for leadership, achievement, and visionary excellence in web offset printing.
The Harry V. Quadracci VISION Award is conferred to a web offset industry executive who has reached an unsurpassed level of excellence and achievement in the industry. WOA created the award to highlight the spirit of industry pioneers, whose hard work and determination create a vibrant, growing, and changing industry.
The history of Transcontinental under his leadership is remarkable. The small printing plant in Ville St-Laurent, a suburb of Montreal, which in 1976 had about 30 employees, formed the basis for a company that has since extended its operations across North America and as far as Mexico. In the United States, a key international market, Transcontinental has become a major player in direct marketing, a fast-growing niche, and will become the leader in outsourced newspaper printing, thanks to its unique approach. Over the past 10 years alone, its magazine and newspaper sales in Canada have jumped from $60 million to half a billion dollars.
Today, Transcontinental is the sixth-largest printer in North America, and in Canada it is the leading printer and the fourth-largest print media group. The corporation has more than 14,500 employees and reported revenues of C$2.3 billion in 2006.
“My dream,” says Marcoux “was to build a company that would reflect my values, including respect for employees and partners, customer service that exceeds expectations, integrity, innovation, and passion for a job well done.”
The Harry V. Quadracci VISION Award will be presented to Mr. Marcoux on Monday, April 30 at the Sheraton Centre, in Toronto, Canda, as part of the WOA’s 55th Annual Management and Technical Conference, now entitled Offset & Beyond.
