31st Annual Gallery of Superb Printing

Press release from the issuing company

BURLINGTON, MA - January 8, 2008 - The 31st Annual Gallery of Superb Printing, produced by the Boston Litho & Craftsmen's Club, will be held on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008, at the Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA.
The Gallery is New England's original printing awards show that honors the quality demonstrated across a wide range of print applications by New England print manufacturers and other service providers. The BL&CC has produced this prestigious awards gala for the last 30 years. The Club is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to furthering the appreciation and growth of the printing industry in the greater Boston area, and its members all work in the industry.
The annual Gallery awards show has always been a highlight of the printing industry in greater Boston. Winners of the Gallery Awards are widely regarded as among the highest-quality print manufacturers in the region. Framed Superb Gallery awards - with their familiar black bow tie logo - can be seen on display in many of the area's finest printing firms.
This year, awards will be given in 46 different categories, including art prints, annual reports, calendars, screen printing, direct mail, stationery, point of purchase, invitations, and packaging. New for 2008 are three categories for small presses (under 20"), as well as four categories specifically for digital printing.
Call for Entries
The BL&CC is currently accepting award entries. Only pieces printed between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007 may be entered into competition. Companies are invited to submit as many entries per category as they wish. The entry prices are as follows: $60 per entry (for 1 - 10 entries); $59 per entry (11 - 20); $57 per entry (21 - 50); and $55 per entry (51 and up). Please contact Dick Errico at [email protected] for entry forms.
New Hall of Fame Recognition
This year, along with the awards that will be given out during the evening on May 6th, the BL&CC will be inducting three printing companies into the Printers Hall of Fame. The names and awards will be on display at the Hall of Fame Archives in the Museum of Printing located in North Andover, Ma. In addition, the Club has announced today that the Top Ten Best Winners of the 2008 Gallery will automatically be entered into the NALC national competition, "The Impressions Awards," and will be sponsored by the Boston Litho & Craftsmen's Club.
Sponsorship Opportunities
Vendors who serve the printing industry are invited to display their products at the May 6th Gallery gala, and also participate as sponsors. Sponsors may contact Bob Davidson [email protected] for an information package plan for sponsorships.

Supporting Students and the Museum of Printing
Portions of the proceeds from the Gallery of Superb Printing go to scholarships for students in the graphic arts. Additionally, portions go to the Museum of Printing in North Andover, MA.
Gardner LePoer, Executive Director of the Museum of Printing, notes that the BL&CC and the Museum have long had a supportive relationship, as both strive to serve the printing industry. "The Gallery event is an important way for the industry to highlight and honor the quality of work done by printers in the area," said LePoer. "Quality for a printed product doesn't mean just ink on paper; rather, it means quality with ink, quality with composition, quality with paper, quality with delivery and packaging, and quality with just understanding and translating the wishes of the customer. If your company represents quality in all of these areas, you will be successful, and the Gallery offers you an opportunity to demonstrate the comparative quality of your work.
"Participating in the Gallery also keeps alive a great tradition of getting together on a festive occasion to take pride in our work and enjoy one another's company."
