Boston Print Buyers Presents: Environmentally Sustainable Advertising and Print Production

Press release from the issuing company

August 20, 2007, Chestnut Hill, MA -- On Tuesday, September 25, Boston Print Buyers (a division of Print Buyers International, LLC) is hosting an educational dinner program on the vital topic of Environmentally Sustainable Advertising and Print Production. This special program is co-sponsored by Pictorial Offset Corporation of Carlstadt, NJ, and Cascades, based in Quebec. The program will take place from 6 to 8:30 pm at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel in Boston, MA.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, "…sustainability encompasses ideas…that inspire public and private organizations to become better stewards of the environment." On a personal level, we are well aware that going "green" makes a big difference in minimizing adverse effects on the environment.
But what about printing?
From reducing the size of corporate carbon footprints to managing operations to reduce global warming, the trend of environmentally responsible communications is on the upswing. However, many agencies and companies don't know how to get started.
Panel of Experts
At this dinner program, a specially selected panel of experts - key practitioners who will speak from agency, paper, print, and environmental group perspectives - will discuss how you can take meaningful steps to produce environmentally responsible communications and foster sustainability.
Panelists include Gary M. Pawlaczyk of Pictorial Offset, David Elovich of Cascades Fine Paper, and Liza Murphy of the Rainforest Alliance.
Gary Pawlaczyk is Pictorial’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In the six years that he has been in charge of the company’s sales and marketing efforts, Pictorial’s annual revenues have doubled, from $40 million to $80 million. Gary is an RIT graduate and has been steadfastly involved in organizations that work to improve the quality of life in both the graphic arts and his community. He is a director on the board of the Advertising Production Club (APC) and speaks often at industry forums and conferences.
David Elovich is Territorial Sales Manager for Cascades Fine Paper. He comes from four generations of a New England printing family and trained in corporate America with technical sales management and marketing positions with General Electric and Kodak before coming back into the graphic arts industry.
Liza Murphy is Senior Manager, Market Development, for the Rainforest Alliance. Based in New York City, Liza manages the work that the Rainforest Alliance does to promote the use of certified products originating from the Forestry Sector. A focus of her work is collaborating to develop markets for certified products with the manufacturing and distribution sectors for paper and print, construction products and furniture.
