X-Rite Announces First Shipments of Automated News Densitometer

Press release from the issuing company

Grandville, MI -- X-Rite, Incorporated (NASDAQ/NMS:XRIT), a leading global provider of technology solutions that measure color and light, today announces it has begun customer shipments of its new Auto Tracking Densitometer (ATD) for News. ATD News automates and substantially speeds the process of evaluating and adjusting gray balance in newspaper production. The system measures and reports density levels from continuous-color rules as small as 2.0mm in height. ATD News is designed specifically for newspaper presses, and was developed with the benefit of global research collected from newspaper pressroom professionals and global newspaper associations such as NAA, IFRA and PANPA. ATD News delivers significant speed, accuracy, and process control advantages to newspaper press operators still relying on manual densitometers or visual reference for color quality monitoring. According to Dan Silvernail, pressroom manager at the Grand Rapids Press, a test site for the new system, "X-Rite's ATD News delivers on its promise. The system's ability to measure gray density across entire pages quickly and accurately is a great feature that will save time in production. Our press operators loved it!"
