OfficeMax and Canon U.S.A. Extend Their Relationship to Help Small Businesses Print Big

Press release from the issuing company

NAPERVILLE, Ill., May 23 -- It's no secret that most small businesses have big dreams, but they also have big printing needs. Promotional banners, posters and displays are key tools to small businesses, and, in this case, bigger is definitely better. According to InfoTrends Research Group, the demand for large printed graphics is expected to grow from $11 billion to $13 billion by 2011. OfficeMax, a leading provider of office equipment and services, and Canon U.S.A., Inc., a world leader in office imaging systems, ink-jet technology and digital photography, today extended their relationship to offer color, large-format printing at OfficeMax ImPress(TM), OfficeMax's print and document service, using the Canon imagePROGRAF large format printers, beginning in May. "The insight into this need comes directly from our customers -- they let us know loud and clear that large format printing is a key necessity," said Brian Norris, senior vice president for OfficeMax ImPress. "But having a bigger printed piece doesn't mean anything if the quality of reproduction is poor. Canon's expertise and world class technology continues to exceed industry expectations and will enable OfficeMax ImPress to deliver exceptional quality that will help our customers design and produce their best work." Last year, OfficeMax and Canon announced that OfficeMax would be installing Canon imagePROGRAF® W6400 printers at more than 500 OfficeMax locations. Due to the success of the original installation, OfficeMax and Canon have agreed to extend the installation of Canon's large-format printer to all OfficeMax locations. Currently OfficeMax is installing imagePROGRAF printers in the remaining ImPress locations totaling more than 900 OfficeMax imagePROGRAF installations nationwide. Through the use of Canon software and the Canon imagePROGRAF W6400 pigment ink printers, OffficeMax ImPress customers will be able to print high-quality poster-sized photographic prints, crisp large visual aids and graphs, and professional customized posters and signage for any occasion. Canon will also provide OfficeMax ImPress with Canon's PosterArtist Software for the simple creation of posters and signage with nearly 200 templates and an extensive catalog of royalty-free images. "The extension of the Canon-OfficeMax relationship to include all OfficeMax locations will be a plus for customers and businesses looking to leverage large-format printing. The use of our award-winning imagePROGRAF line will allow OfficeMax locations to capitalize upon and capture the large-format printing opportunities in the market and create tremendous value for its customers," said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. To highlight the new large format service capabilities, OfficeMax has launched a special promotion in May in conjunction with National Photo Month. From now through May 31, customers that purchase any digital camera at OfficeMax will receive a coupon for one free 24"x36" color poster of their favorite digital photo (a $29.99 value) at OfficeMax ImPress. OfficeMax ImPress is OfficeMax's print and document service operation that serves businesses and consumers through direct and online sales.
