GRAPH_COMM 07 Seminars Are A Major Attraction To Buyers

BOSTON (March 20, 2007) — Media and print specifiers have pre-registered to fill more than 800 seminar seats for GRAPH_COMM 07, the leading educational, informational and networking event scheduled for March 29th at the Boston Marriott Copley Hotel. Pre-registration remains open until Tuesday, March 27th. There is no cost to attend GRAPH_COMM 07 for anyone who specifies, directs of executes media spending campaigns including print buying. Buyers, specifiers, senior-level decision-making marketing executives are filling the available seats for 10 educational seminars designed to help creative and marketing professionals keep pace with the various changes taking place in graphic communications today. Creating Press-Ready PDFs will be led by Joe Marin, a senior prepress instructor at Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, and one of the country’s leading experts on Adobe Acrobat and PDF files in a print production environment. Marin will also lead Mission Possible: A Mutual Strategy for Creatives & Printers with his PIA/GATF colleague Tracey Ryan. New this year is Bringing Green Into Your Design. Boston Print Buyer Founder Margie Dana will moderate a panel discussion about the growing importance of environmental-friendly practices, its impact on design, paper specification and the benefits to be gained by in the marketplace by utilizing environmental friendly practices in design and media campaigns. Panelists include George W. Milner of Mohawk Fine Papers, Pamela Fogg of Middlebury College and current president of the national University & College Designers Association, and Heather McCoy of Hull Printing, and Liza Murphy of the Rainforest Alliance. Area mailing veteran Christine Erna of Fulfillment Plus Mailing Solutions in North Andover, MA will be accompanied by U.S. Postal Services Specialist Marc Riley to present How to Mail Smarter. Getting Personal...Getting Results: Developing Variable Data Print Creative will be led by direct marketing maven Alexandra MacAaron, a former president of the New England Direct Marketing Association. Separate sessions are being held to help creatives maximize the efficiency offerings in Adobe desktop products. Expert instructor Noha Edell will lead both sessions: Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator: Tools That Will Take Your Creativity to New Levels and Adobe InDesign and Acrobat 8 Professional. And finally, three industry veterans will lead a panel discussion about the importance of understanding production standards in GRACoL Print Standards: What’s the Big Deal? Panelists include Ron Ellis of Ellis Consulting, Gerry Gerlach, co-chair of GRACoL and a veteran prepress professional at Integrity Graphics in Windsor Locks, CT, and Frank Williams, a production leader at digital service company Williams and Partners in North Reading, MA. Keynote Luncheon, Exhibitors and Networking Reception GRAPH_COMM 07, formerly called Graphic Communications Day — New England, is Printing Industries of New England’s one-day symposium for media and print specifiers and buyers. In only its third year, the event has grown to become a leading event to serve agency professionals, marketing directors, creative professionals and others who work in Boston’s $5 billion print marketplace. The event opens with a noon luncheon featuring keynote speaker Michael McPherson, a well-known area brand designer and communications strategist.
