Press release from the issuing company

Tuesday June 12 CHICAGO-- Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging solutions, today introduced two new large format substrates for the Company's line of imagePROGRAF large format printers as well as two new media options for Canon imageRUNNER MFPs and imagePRESS digital production presses.

New Large Format Substrates

Canon's new Universal White Film is a durable, water-resistant glossy substrate for high-end printed materials and graphics. Made of a durable polyester base, the film provides excellent color reproduction. The Company's Universal White Film features a microporous coating technology that provides quick drying and water resistance for printed output. The durable 7 mil substrate is compatible with dye and pigment inks and is an ideal choice for trade show graphics, high-impact photo printing, dynamic point of purchase materials, and high-end ink jet printing applications.

Canon adds a second film option for its large format printers with the new Adhesive White Film, with high gloss and a permanent adhesive backing. The bright white 4.6 mil film is compatible with dye and pigment inks and features an ultra smooth surface for high quality inkjet prints. The special back coating minimizes curl, allowing for easy application of printed film to a wide variety of surfaces.

New Letter-Sized Office Substrates

Canon's new Synthetic Paper exhibits excellent print quality, tear resistance and water resistance to provide printed documents with enhanced durability. The Company's Synthetic Paper also bonds well with lamination for even greater durability for signs, name tags and heavily handled output. Approved for use with Canon Color imageRUNNER C3200 and C3220 MFPs, the 10 mil substrate is also FDA approved for direct food contact making it ideal for maps, menus, signs, security forms, children's materials, manuals, placemats, and government, legal and school applications.

Additionally, Canon is pleased to announce its letter sized 25 percent Cotton Bond Paper. Made of 25 percent cotton fibers, this paper creates a strong and durable product with an elegant look and feel, making it the ideal choice for professional and business correspondence. The 96 percent bright white paper is the perfect option when you want your document to make a good impression such as with resumes and proposals. It is available in 24lb. Bond and approved for most Canon equipment including the imagePRESS C1, Color and monochrome imageRUNNER MFPs, and the CLC 5100/4000/3900/5000/3900+ models.
