The Fashion of Paper will be held on Saturday evening, March 3rd, 2007. AIGA Miami, the creative force behind design, teams up with Unisource, national paper distributor as a collaborating partner to oversee all creative standards of paper designs, which will be featured on the fashion runway. Fifteen designers and design firms have been chosen by the AIGA selection committee, all coming from AIGA Miami member’s submissions, and were each assigned a country and a big stack of paper from various Unisource mills. From these simple blank sheets of paper will emerge impressive beauty and inspired imagination channeled into fifteen fashion creations, each representative of a distinct world culture, designing a dress culturally relevant to its country. Countries on the runway will include: Bangladesh, Mali, Venezuela, and Samoa, Croatia among other exotic unexplored lands. AIGA Miami and Unisource actively seek out designer’s input and strive to keep the design professionals current on the latest offerings from the various mills.
