New Digital Front End Maximizes the Power of HP Indigo Color Capabilities

PALO ALTO, Calif., January 31, 2007 -- HP today announced the availability of the HP Indigo Production Stream Server version 1.1, Powered by Creo, a digital front end that provides HP Indigo digital press users a greater ability to print with color accuracy in a wider range of process and spot colors. For the first time ever, HP Indigo customers will be able to use the HP Indigo Production Stream Server to produce five-, six-, and seven-color jobs, using a solution that brings high-end commercial printing color management technology to the robust process- and spot-color capabilities of the HP Indigo press platform. The new server also has a host of productivity enhancements, including integration with Kodak’s new Unified Workflow solution. With this feature, users of KODAK Prinergy and KODAK Brisque Workflow Systems can now incorporate their HP Indigo press operations in automated, JDF- and PDF-based end-to-end workflows, handling everything from web-to-print order entry to automated finishing. “With this solution, we are unleashing the potential of multi-color digital printing – including the only available technology for digital press production in six and seven colors – providing a solution for meeting the most stringent color demands,” said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo division, HP. “Print service providers, including those establishing hybrid offset and digital workflows, will benefit from a new level of ability and reliability in color matching, RIP productivity and JDF connectivity.” Enhancements to the HP Indigo Production Stream Server version 1.1 enable HP’s exclusive Pantone-enabled features for high-end, offset-quality spot-color printing and process-color matching, including: • HP IndiChrome on-press: a six-color (CMYKOV) PANTONE emulation for simulating the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM® • HP IndiChrome off-press: an 11-color mixing system for solid spot ink creation • HP Professional PANTONE technology: an on-press four-color (CMYK) PANTONE emulation for simulating PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM Colors • Exclusive seven-color digital printing capabilities. The HP Indigo Production Stream Server also enhances connectivity and productivity with features such as: • Load-while-printing operation for efficient production of variable-data jobs containing a large number of records • Support for the HP Indigo presses 1000 and 1050. The HP Indigo Production Stream Server version 1.1 will be unveiled for the first time at the Digital Solutions Cooperative (Dscoop) annual conference being held February 1-3 in Wesley Chapel, Fla. Available through HP, the HP Indigo Production Stream Server includes professional color management technologies from PODS group (www.printondemandsolutions.com), an independent unit of Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group that manufactures Creo Digital Color Servers and one-to-one marketing communications tools.
