At PackPrint 2007, Muller Martini to showcase versatile capabilities of Alprinta-V press
Press release from the issuing company
Hauppauge, New York – During the 2007 PackPrint show, Muller Martini (booth #000) will be displaying a unit from its Alprinta-V press along with several print samples produced on various substrates that are popular in the packaging market. Each of the samples has been printed by the Alprinta-V continuously size-variable web offset press, demonstrating the many possibilities that this versatile new equipment can bring to businesses throughout the packaging industry.
Muller Martini is the global leader in variable size web offset press technology and the new Alprinta-V is engineered to make size changeovers quick as well as less costly.
The Alprinta-V series utilizes a continuously size variable insert system. The insert remains in the press during a size change, since only the actual size parts – the blanket cylinder and the plate cylinder – are exchanged. The change is completed without tools and breaking the web is not necessary. The size parts are light and easy to handle, yet extremely stable. In a matter of minutes, the press can be changed over to a new size.
Thus, the Alprinta-V possesses a size variability that is comparable with flexo and gravure printing...making the press very well suited for labeling and packaging applications. The extensive range of applications stretches from self-adhesive labels to base material, to bottle labels made of paper or plastic film – produced in a single pass and delivered on rolls or in sheets. Cooling cylinders are available for UV curing, so that even temperature-sensitive materials such as shrink sleeves can be processed with ease.
“Our innovation and market leadership in size-variable web press technology has strategically positioned Muller Martini as the press supplier of choice for the packaging market,” said Werner Naegeli, President and CEO of Muller Martini Corp. “At PackPrint 2007, visitors to our booth will see why the Alprinta-V is a highly intelligent investment for increasing production flexibility, enhancing operational efficiency and building profit potential.”
The product samples produced on the Alprinta-V that Muller Martini will be displaying at PackPrint 2007 range from a 38 micron plastic transparent film printed with stochastic screening to a direct mail job with heavy coverage produced on 10 pt. coated stock. Included in this range will be label samples printed on both paper and shrink sleeve materials.
The Alprinta-V delivers web speeds of up to 1,200 ft/min and also achieves high quality printing results that rival sheetfed. Renowned Muller Martini job set-up technology provides for incredibly fast make-readies. In fact, the machine’s unique and brand new “artificial intelligence” handles set-ups for both new and repeat jobs automatically – increasing productivity on busy print shop floors by freeing personnel to perform other tasks.
PackPrint 2007 takes place September 9-12, 2007 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. PackPrint is the largest industry event covering package printing and production entirely in one location.
