RPI Graphic Data Solutions Installs Second Komori Lithrone S40

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, November 13, 2006 - Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, installed its second six-color Lithrone S40 (LS640) at RPI Graphic Data Solutions, a Cincinnati-based commercial printer serving a client base that includes advertising and design agencies and large enterprises in the consumer food and packaged goods industry. Established in 1969, RPI Graphic Data Solutions has evolved from a prepress provider to a specialty printer that prints a variety of high-end marketing and point-of-purchase materials. This is the sixth Komori press for RPI. The company purchased the new press after experiencing a substantial productivity boost from the first press. "We were immediately impressed with how well the Lithrone S40 handled when we first installed it in 2002, particularly when it came to speed and automated makeready,î said Ken Reller, president of RPI Graphic Data Solutions. "We also saw how much better it printed and we really benefited from its productivity, so we had to have another one. Our turnaround times are 30 to 50 percent faster because of these presses. Having the second Lithrone is like having two additional presses on the floor. Our press operators are that much more productive." The built-in automation available on the new LS640 contributes significantly to RPIís increased productivity. The press offers an open architecture that allows for more flexibility and control over all aspects of the production process. Additional considerations in choosing the six-color press were its ability to provide accurate, consistent color and handle a variety of substrates, such as plastic, static cling and board stock, both critical to delivering the type of consumer marketing materials the company prints for its customers. Since its operators are already familiar with the first Komori press, the company has more flexibility when it comes to workflow, making it easier to keep production moving. "The refinements that make the newest Lithrone presses easy to use and productive are integral to Komoriís product improvement philosophy," said Mike VanCalbergh, vice president of sales for Komoriís Midwest Region. "We are proud of our long relationship with RPI Graphic and Data Solutions and our part in the impressive growth of their company."
