Varstar and Rotoworx Digital UV Coating Systems Awarded at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Montreal, QC, Canada – October 23, 2006 PAT Technology Systems Inc. was proud to be a double recipient of the awards presented by the “MUST SEE ‘EMS!” technology and product recognition program at this year’s Graph Expo. Varstar, the sheet-fed digital UV coating system was awarded a “MUST SEE ‘EMS!”, while the Rotoworx web-fed digital UV coating/converting system received a “WORTH-A-LOOK!” award. The awards distinguished the products as two of the show’s most innovative and compelling products among 5700 individual products at Graph Expo. The announcement of the “MUST SEE ‘EMS!” recipients is one of the highlights of the Executive Outlook Conference which takes place prior to the show’s opening. Varstar, the sheet fed digital UV coater was recognized as a product most likely to have a broad impact on the printing and converting industries. Similarly, the Rotoworx web-fed digital UV coater/converting system received the “WORTH-A-LOOK!” award which is especially important for niche markets and selected groups. Both Varstar and Rotoworx feature PAT’s new True Digital Coating (TDC) technology which applies UV coating using piezo inkjet heads. The non-contact, digital process allows coating to be applied directly onto printed media without plates or blankets. A graphic file is all that is required to execute spot coating and flood coating. In addition, the technology is capable of producing variable gloss levels without changing UV coating fluids or changing equipment configuration. This allows printers to create virtually any image or pattern consisting of combinations of matte through to gloss coating effects in one single pass. “Our decision to develop this technology was based on our desire to bring coating technology up to speed with the needs of digital printing and to create a transitional product for conventional printers who want to progress to digital,” PAT’s Vice-President of Sales and Marketing said. “It is encouraging to see that a selection panel of 15 leading industry consultants and trade magazine editors has also recognized the merits of TDC technology.” For more information about the “MUST SEE ‘EMS!” technology and product recognition program, visit: www.mustseeems.com
