Quark unveils Quark Print Collection with imposition capabilities These prepress tools won’t break the budget

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago (Graph Expo) - October 16, 2006 - Quark Inc. announced today the availability of the new Quark Print Collection, a comprehensive set of prepress tools for QuarkXPress 7 and Adobe Acrobat 7. Quark Print Collection enables the creation of fully imposed, press-ready files at a price anyone who is involved in the print-production process can afford. “Quark Print Collection offers exceptional value and allows organizations to provide professional imposition tools to their entire production staff,” said Paul Schmitt, vice president of product development at Quark. “No other software offers such an advanced range of imposition capabilities for both QuarkXPress and Adobe Acrobat at such an affordable price.” Exceptional value Quark Print Collection includes Quark Imposer for QuarkXPress, Quark Imposer for Adobe Acrobat, Quark MarkIt, and Quark Item Marks. Based on technology originally developed by A Lowly Apprentice Production (ALAP) Inc., which was previously acquired by Quark, these tools provide users with everything they need to create fully imposed press-ready files. Simply faster The streamlined and intuitive interface of Quark Print Collection enables anyone who is involved in the print-production process to accomplish a range of imposition tasks with minimal training and effort. Imposed pages can be previewed before output to ensure quality and prevent waste. In addition, imposition and registration settings can be saved as reusable styles, which can be shared with other users. Advanced features Users can impose native QuarkXPress layouts using QuarkXPress 7 or PDF files using Adobe Acrobat 7, ensuring maximum flexibility in dealing with customer files in whatever format they are received. Pages can be imposed in 2-up, 4-up, 6-up, and 8-up layouts; users can choose from among a variety of binding and imposition types and control settings for bleed, creep, and crossover. The imposer piece within Quark Print Collection arranges the pages automatically based on settings the user chooses. Unlike other imposition solutions, the original source files are never affected. “We’ve taken all of the guesswork out of imposition so that our customers will encounter fewer errors and less wastage and achieve maximum efficiency,” said Schmitt. Quark Print Collection includes QuarkXPress 7 XTensions software for creating custom printers marks such as registration targets, color bars, text slugs, and logos, which can be applied to individual items or entire pages. Pricing Quark Print Collection will be available by October 30, 2006, for $299 through the Quark store on the Quark Web site at www.quark.com/products/printcollection/, and is also available through Quark resellers and educational channels worldwide. Quark at GraphExpo Quark will be demonstrating Quark Print Collection at GraphExpo in Chicago October 15-18, 2006, booth #4807.
