New Xeikon 6000 digital color press from Punch Graphix revolutionizes productivity

September 21, 2006 -- With an unparalleled speed of 160 A4 pages per minute and a duty cycle of almost 4,000,000 pages per month, the new Xeikon 6000 digital color press sets new standards in digital color printing, enabling customers to achieve higher production volumes and increased profits. The Xeikon 6000 includes a new Digital-Front-End (X-800) and Form Adapted (FA) toner that deliver outstanding quality and cutting-edge workflow management tools. It is the fastest digital color press in the market offering graphic arts quality. The new Xeikon 6000 prints multi-page documents at an unmatched speed of 160 A4 pages per minute in fully collated order, which translates into 9,600 full-color pages per hour. This extremely productive solution easily tackles monthly volumes of close to 4,000,000 pages. The Xeikon 6000 is extremely flexible: it handles paper stock from 40 to 350 gsm and runs the widest array of substrates in the market, including paperboard. Being web-fed, it boasts of unbeatable format flexibility running substrate widths from 320 mm (12.6 inches) to 508 mm (20 inches) and unlimited, flexible image length. It offers outstanding image quality thanks to excellent uniformity, smoothness, color stability and registration. The Xeikon 6000 incorporates a new release of the X-800 Digital-Front-End. The X-800 offers high-speed support, FA toner support, a fifth color and color management tools. A full-color IPDS (Intelligent Print Data Stream) controller is also available. Customers benefit from an open, flexible architecture that easily interfaces with fully automated workflows; a high degree of modularity - modules can be installed on separate platforms or on a single system depending on a customer's specific needs; and an extremely high performance. Punch Graphix is the first to implement polyester based shape-modified toners in high-speed digital color printing. The FA toner was developed by Punch Graphix research and is produced at its plant in Westerlo, Belgium. The new FA toner technology that runs the Xeikon 6000 takes dry toner to a new level of performance. Customers enjoy enhanced operator comfort, superior image quality, more vivid colors and a wider application range. The FA toner is FDA-approved for indirect food contact. The Xeikon 6000, equipped with FA toner, is also Pantone-licensed, which allows the full gamut and depth of the Xeikon 6000's unique digital color image quality to be utilized. Red, blue, green, orange, white and clear spot toners are also available "off the shelf".
