Shawmut Printing Installs Third Komori Press

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, August 3, 2006 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Shawmut Printing, a full-service commercial printer located in Danvers, Massachusetts, recently installed its third Komori press, a six-color Lithrone S40 (LS640) with coater. Printing both long and short-run applications, the LS640 will allow the company to produce multi-page catalogs, booklets, newsletters and direct mail pieces exceptionally fast and with an especially high degree of quality for clients in a variety of industries, including publishing, education and government. In selecting the press, Shawmut Printing was particularly impressed with the breadth of automation built into the LS640. Its fast makeready capabilities are expected to increase the company’s production time by up to 66 percent. Shawmut also cited the pre-inking function as important for its high-end catalog applications. The pre-inking function creates a new ink film on the rollers before the run starts, again allowing for fast start-up and ensuring stable ink density and color consistency. Shawmut’s confidence in and long-term relationship with Komori were additional factors in the decision. “Komori has been an excellent company to work with—it stands behind its products and promises,” said Dom Peluso, president of Shawmut Printing. “Shawmut is also a customer-centric company. We work to make the printing process as easy and seamless as possible for our customers. The LS640’s automated processes give us confidence that we can deliver on this commitment. Additionally, by speeding turnaround times and thereby reducing the cost of printing jobs, we are excited about our ability to enter new markets and gain new clients in a highly competitive industry.” “Komori is proud of its long-term relationship with Shawmut Printing. The company has a history of adapting to and supporting the diverse needs of its customers,” said Ken Sabol, vice president of sales for Komori’s Eastern Region. “With the company’s purchase of the LS640, Shawmut will continue that tradition by creating superior products in a timeframe that will exceed their customers’ expectations.”
