DALiM MiSTRAL Receives PIA/GATF 2006 Intertech Technology Award

Press release from the issuing company

Kehl, Germany - Dalim Software, a global leader in the design and development of innovative and automated professional production workflow software for prepress, print, packaging, advertising and publishing, is proud to announce that The Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) has awarded a 2006 PIA/GATF InterTech Technology Award for DALiM MiSTRAL, recognizing Dalim Software's innovative automated premedia production technologies. The PIA/GATF instituted the InterTech Technology Award nearly thirty years ago as an industry service to promote an understanding of advanced technology in the graphic arts. The criteria for nomination stress that the technology be recently developed, proven in an industrial application, but not yet in widespread use. In essence, the award stands as a prediction that the recipient technology will have a major impact on industry production and profitability. DALiM MiSTRAL is unique web-based solution that automates and communicates the planning, staffing, scheduling and tracking of print and publishing projects. The system sits on top of workflows as a JDF-compliant web-based common electronic submission interface and print production management system for tracking, administration, assembly, correction and approval of "publishable material". Views of project status - as color-coded icons - are available in real time, from a web browser as well as thumbnails and PDF full views of completed content. The backbone of DALiM MiSTRAL is a complete production automation software capability. Thus, DALiM MiSTRAL allows users not only to collaborate, but also to build complete workflows with far-reaching impact between client and printer. By allowing every project participant to have a "common virtual workspace" as a job moves through various stages of production, DALiM MiSTRAL allows a level of transparency and collaborative working previously unavailable within the industry. Although PIA/GATF sponsors and coordinates the award process, a special committee comprised of industry technical experts carefully reviews the nominations and makes the selections. During deliberation, comments from the judges included: - "DALiM MiSTRAL does what people have been trying to do for a long time: workflow, automation, and incorporating the web into the process." - "DALiM MiSTRAL brings management into the system." - "The web-based customer contact is impressive." "Continental Web is seeing improved communications, allowing worldwide customer access to our digital platform. DALiM MiSTRAL fundamentally impacts our business more than any solution we have invested in years," noted Ed Zepernick, director of technology at Continental Web Press, in his letter supporting DALiM MiSTRAL, to the PIA/GATF. "From a prepress production aspect, we're seeing productivity gains over our previous system in the order of at least 33%, as the expertise of our staff and clients grow. Our investment in DALiM MiSTRAL is also providing an exceptional opportunity to build sales by demonstrating this powerful interactive, collaborative workflow to prospects." "Dalim Software products have allowed Brown to stay competitive in the market, and in many cases our close development partnership with Dalim Software has positioned us as a leader in our industry," added Lee Edberg, Brown Printing Central PreMedia Manager. "We believe this is a clear testament of our technological leadership in developing innovative graphic arts productivity solutions," comments Dr. Carol Werlé, Dalim Software CEO. "When we first introduced DALiM MiSTRAL, we strongly believed that we had developed a significant technology that was set to change the printer/print buyer relationship. Since then, printers, publishers and packaging companies have seen the real benefits that DALiM MiSTRAL offers to their businesses - and their clients' businesses. The PIA/GATF 2006 InterTech Award is a considerable honor and recognition of the consistent impact our technologies have presented to the graphic arts industries for over twenty years. On behalf of all of us at Dalim Software, I look forward to receiving the Award during the 2006 PIA/GATF Fall Meeting."
