Zimmermann Printing Taps Enovation For Installation of Fujifilm Javelin, Xerox DocuColor 8000

Press release from the issuing company

VALHALLA, N.Y. (July 6, 2006) – For Milwaukee-area printer Zimmermann Printing, it’s all about the speed. Whether it’s the company’s offset business or the desire to add digital printing to its list of capabilities, it’s got to be fast. In anticipation of the introduction of Fujifilm’s processless plates later this year, Zimmermann Printing installed the Fujifilm Javelin, an 8-up thermal device that boasts a speedy 37 plates per hour and amazing reliability and imaging. With its sharp dots and superior run lengths, the Fujifilm Javelin is the technology of choice behind a number of growing companies such as Zimmerman Printing. “With the sharpness of the dots they’re able to achieve, our pressmen love the Javelin and have found that they have a great deal of control,” says Dave Zimmermann, owner of Zimmermann Printing. The Javelin supports plates ranging from 14-9/16” x 17-23/32” to the oversized 37” x 45-21/32”, including Fujifilm’s Brillia HD Processless Thermal Plate PRO-T, introduced this year. “Another reason we selected the Fujifilm Javelin is because of our plan to go to processless plates,” added Zimmermann. “Since we won’t have to go through the processing stage, we should be able to add some speed and save some time. And, we’ll be eliminating another variable – the chemistry – where there’s potential for problems.” In addition to updating the company’s CTP capabilities, Zimmermann also added a Xerox DocuColor 8000 in order to complement their offset business. “We weren’t interested in just short-run capabilities, we wanted to focus on producing personalized marketing packages for our customers,” explains Zimmermann. The addition of the DocuColor 8000 has allowed Zimmermann to bid on a number of jobs that they weren’t able to previously. “A lot of customers that have worked with us on offset projects are approaching us now for short run digital printing,” he says. “We have color expertise on the offset work and we can now take that knowledge and apply it to four-color short run digital printing.” The DocuColor 8000 offers Zimmermann state-of-the-art technology at 80 pages per minute. “We worked with Enovation on the selection and installation of the DocuColor 8000 and were very impressed with the support they were able to offer us,” he says, “including color management support through Enovation’s Technical Sales & Solutions group.” A mid-size commercial printer with a plant in Sheboygan, Wisc. and sales offices in Milwaukee, Zimmermann Printing Company continually strives for quality in its work and is always looking for new technology to implement and offer their customers – a commitment that’s kept them in business for more than 100 years and promises to take them well into the future.
