MeadWestvaco Celebrates Opening of Packaging Operation in China

October 24, 2007 -- RICHMOND, Va. -- MeadWestvaco Corporation today announced the grand opening of its state-of-the-art consumer packaging facility in Wuxi, People's Republic of China. The Wuxi facility serves customers in the health, beauty, and food and beverage industries located throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and MeadWestvaco plans to serve the growing Eastern European and Middle Eastern markets from this facility.
The capabilities of the Wuxi facility include MeadWestvaco Calmar pump and spray molding and assembly, and advanced technology offset printing. This facility will deliver high-quality packaging with consistency in graphics and structural design, giving consumer product companies confidence and control over their brands throughout the global marketplace.

The company celebrated the grand opening on October 18 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, plant tour and reception for distinguished local government officials and MeadWestvaco customers. The impressive 236,000 square foot operation will employ approximately 450 people by the end of 2007.
