Pitney Bowes Launches New Postage Technology

Press release from the issuing company

STAMFORD, Conn., June 12 -- Pitney Bowes Inc. today announced that it has launched the Stamp Expressions(TM) Printer. Targeted to small and home offices, the Pitney Bowes patented technology enables customers to securely print postage on-demand with unique images in their home or office. The new technology marries the security of traditional postage metering systems with the web-based capability of creating unique images on postage. "As the leader in mailstream solutions, Pitney Bowes is very excited about extending our presence in this exciting new growth category," said Neil Metviner, President of Pitney Bowes PB Direct. "With this affordable new addition to our product line, we can even serve small business customers whose mailing needs might not require the use of a postage meter, or customers that would like to advertise their businesses on every piece of mail they send." The Stamp Expressions(TM) Printer's web-based software makes it easy to design one's own postage images. Images can be submitted for online approval with a response delivered usually within one business day. Once approved, the postage can be downloaded and printed instantly. Approved images can be used repeatedly without an additional cost. The small (4" high and 4.5" wide), portable Stamp Expressions(TM) Printer contains tamperproof security that also allows for offline printing of postage. Customers have the option of creating their own postage images, or selecting images from an extensive web-based library of nearly 200 different designs with categories including special events and holidays, general business messages, and industry-specific promotional packs. "The extraordinary volume of direct mail in the mailstream requires companies to use innovative ways to capture the attention of customers and prospects," said Metviner. "With the Stamp Expressions(TM) Printer, small business mailers can stand out and potentially boost response rates and increase customer interest by customizing their postage with distinctive photos, company logos and promotional messages. The postage becomes a billboard and we're telling our customers, 'Don't just mail it, customize it!'" Stamp Expressions(TM) printers, supplies, postage and optional 5 lb. scale can be purchased online at http://www.pb.com/stampexpressions. The postage design and secure barcode are printed onto thermal adhesive labels that come in rolls of 200.
