Australian Printers Expand Production With Tensor Group Presses

Press release from the issuing company

WOODRIDGE, IL (May 24, 2006) – Tensor Group, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of web offset press equipment, has recently installed new presses at several separately-owned newspapers in Australia. The Tensor T-1400 series 4-high has proven to be a popular choice in this region for expanding existing press equipment to accommodate increased circulations and to improve color capabilities. The Murray Pioneer, circulating in the Riverland of South Australia, added a T-1400 tower recently at its facility in Renmark. General Manager, Ben Taylor, reports, “The installation was extremely smooth and the whole project was well managed. The equipment performs above all expectations and is very user friendly. The quality being achieved is absolutely fantastic.” The Murray Pioneer has a circulation of 7,000 copies twice a week and also produces The Mid North Broadcaster 2,000 copies, Pinnaroo Border Times 1,200 copies, The Loxton News 2,700 copies, The River News 2,800 copies and The Gawler Bunyip 11,500 copies. Also produced are a number of commercial products. The Courier of Mount Barker celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2005. The newspaper was founded in 1880 by Charles Dumas, who later became an elected Member of Parliament. The current owners, the Marston family, have been operating The Courier business for over half a century. Their Goss Community press was expanded by the addition of the Tensor T-1400 during their hallmark anniversary year. The Beaudesert Times of Jimboomba, Queensland, added its new tower onto an existing Tensor tower and Goss Community mono press. The recent purchase has a web width of one meter with a 630mm cutoff to print the mostly quarterfold production. Q.I. automatic color register and cutoff controls were added to achieve outstanding color. Weekly circulation of the Beaudesert Times and the Jimboomba Times together tops 20,000 and is expected to grow rapidly. Tensor’s T-1400 offers a proven, ergonomical design with the added benefit of retaining a consistently economical value over the lifetime of the press. The unique “bearing-in-a-bearing” eccentric design provides optimum dynamic support of the blanket cylinders, reducing print disturbance. Stainless steel clad cylinders with unique tapered journals add stiffness for improved print and registration control. The arch geometry design allows ease of access for operators. Tensor Group, Inc. is a privately held manufacturer of single width web offset press equipment for commercial, insert and newspaper markets worldwide. Over 1700 units have been successfully installed in more than 23 countries since its inception in 1993.
