Diverse color transactional and direct mail applications to be demonstrated at Xeikon's AIIM/On Demand Expo Booth

Press release from the issuing company

Itasca, IL, April 26, 2006 - Punch Graphix, through its Xeikon brand, will demonstrate a diverse range of color transactional and direct mail applications at the AIIM/On Demand Expo in Philadelphia from May 16-18, 2006. The applications will be printed on Xeikon's flagship product – the Xeikon 5000 full-color digital print engine. Xeikon's exhibit will also feature a flexible and highly capable digital front-end. In addition to Xeikon's X-800 Digital Front-End, the new Xeikon IPDS Controller will also be in action. The combination of these two front-ends helps in delivering the best of two worlds: native IPDS data stream to support transactional documents and native PostScript or PDF support for any other applications. The native IPDS controller was introduced earlier this year at the Graphics of the Americas and enables the digital printer to be fully integrated into transactional printing environments. It is capable of handling typical data center as well as mainstream graphic arts workflows. The applications printed on the Xeikon 5000 will be enhanced with the Xeikon Print Protector, which protects printed material from scuffing damage in mailing and finishing processes. The Xeikon Print Protector applies a water/wax/silicone oil emulsion on both sides of the digital print. This emulsion forms an invisible protective layer that makes all Xeikon printed documents stand up to the wear and tear of everyday use, while keeping the colors bright and accurate. Moreover, the protective coating significantly reduces the build-up of static charges. Xeikon's solution is a perfect fit for the emerging color digital market in transactional and direct mail print production. Punch Graphix firmly believes that the demand in these segments will expand significantly over the next few years, with both direct mail and transactional printers seeking to offer their customers a more targeted approach, thereby increasing response rates. According to Rob Mayerson, VP-Digital Sales, Punch Graphix North America, “Xeikon's offerings can be seamlessly integrated to improve value, using the same workflow, paper, and pre/post processing equipment prevalent in many of today's high volume production facilities. Furthermore, the Xeikon 5000 delivers true graphic color quality required for high value, high impact marketing campaigns.”
