ECRM Records CTP Milestone: 1000th Installation

Press release from the issuing company

Tewksbury, MA (January 26, 2006) ECRM Imaging Systems is pleased to announce that Goodway Graphics has installed ECRM’s 1000th computer-to-plate (CTP) device in its Burlington, Massachusetts facility. “Reaching the 1,000th ECRM CTP solution in the field is a proud moment for our company,” said Rick Black, ECRM CEO. “It validates our strategic vision that violet laser technology would, and has, provided the greatest value for our customers. Moving forward, as plate technologies mature, partnering with ECRM will provide an excellent alternative to those customers who wish to transition to a processless plate environment. We’re confident that Goodway Graphics will see an excellent return on its CTP investment.” Goodway Graphics chose the violet ECRM MAKO 8 CTP for its simple operation, high plate productivity, small footprint, and affordability. “For us it was the return on investment,” said Noel Doherty, Goodway Graphics President/CEO. “The ECRM CTP is simple, flexible and we trust ECRM will be there for us in the future.” Goodway Graphics is seeing much sharper image quality on its plates imaged by the violet ECRM CTP. “We’re getting a very clean dot,” said Robert Doane, Goodway’s Pre Press Manager. “The ECRM CTP is fast, flexible – it’s very good.” The ECRM CTP device, which replaced an imagesetter, is now imaging plates in Goodway Graphics’ multiple press environment - a 40 inch Harris two-color V-25 web press, a 29 inch four-color Heidelberg, and a 40-inch two-color Miller. Goodway Graphics also has digital print capabilities that include the Xerox iGen3 Digital Color Production Press, bindery, fulfillment, and mailing services. Goodway Graphics prints testing materials, transactional documents, books and monthly publications for its customers that include Harvard University. “The violet ECRM CTP solution is a very user-friendly system that is a perfect fit for a company with a range of plate sizes, from small to large,” said Bob Davidson, Sales & Business Development Manager, for authorized reseller The Tripp Company. “The violet ECRM MAKO 8 platesetter has a low cost of maintenance with a two-year standard warranty. A big plus for Goodway Graphics is the fast response of service and parts replacement – that is very important.” “The dramatic decline in the price of violet plates over the last 18 months provides the platform that ECRM anticipated in dedicating our R&D to violet laser technology over four years ago,” says James Luttrell, Director of Marketing for ECRM. “We are now positioned to provide proven solutions that are uniquely tuned to commercial printers and newspapers.” One of those segments among commercial printers is represented by Goodway Graphics. With sales of approximately $40 million annually, Goodway Graphics is a regional leader in digital printing, developing direct mail marketing campaigns along with web-to-print programs. However, as Mr. Doherty states, “Goodway will always be in the offset printing business and with companies like ECRM we will stay competitive with state-of-the-art technology.”
