According to Kristof Vereenooghe, President and CEO, Punch Graphix Americas, "The recent developments in our Prepress technology are beginning to yield rich dividends. The basysPrint systems, especially the UV-Setter Series 5 and Series 7, are experiencing an upward trend in sales. In fact, our German manufacturing unit has ramped up its production schedule to keep up with the demand." All the recent basysPrint installations have taken place in the commercial printing segment: the largest segment of the total CTP market and the focus of Punch Graphix's corporate sales strategy for the basysPrint brand. Bradley Graphics (Bensalem, PA) and Folks Creative Printing (Marion, OH) are the latest of many additions to the basysPrint customer base.
According to Jeff Hopkins, VP-Sales, basysPrint Prepress, Punch Graphix Americas, "Apart from the high quality and low-cost associated with CTP imaging on conventional/UV-sensitive plates, basysPrint's existing and prospective customers are captivated with the our new "scrolling" technology feature." The scrolling technology provides a smooth, continuous imaging resulting in speed increases of up to 80% and simplification of the equipment's optics and design. With the increased speeds and competitive price points associated with scrolling technology, basysPrint systems are in prime position to serve the first time CTP adopters as well as the existing CTP users of competitive systems. "Our CTP/Prepress prospects are particularly impressed with the unique value proposition of the basysPrint systems: the ability to produce durable long-run conventional plates in an environmentally
friendly manner," adds Jeff.
On a worldwide basis, Punch Graphix is opening a new CTP/ Prepress manufacturing plant in Shenzhen, China to penetrate the vast market for these systems in Asia Pacific. In addition, to support the new product development efforts on a continual basis, Punch Graphix has hired
several key personnel to further strengthen the basysPrint R&D team.
"basysPrint is proving to be a very profitable brand for Punch Graphix. We are confident about leveraging our recent sales successes to further strengthen our position in the CTP market," concludes Kristof.
