Speaker Paints "Big Picture" for UK Printers & Buyers in Yorkshire

Press release from the issuing company

(Boston, MA)…Print consultant and author Margie Dana, an industry speaker who specializes in shining a light on the printing industry and enhancing the printer-customer relationship, delivered the keynote address at the PrintYorkshire Showcase2005 in Leeds, UK, on October 6th. Over 400 attendees came to the Royal Armouries Museum for the day-long printing celebration. In addition to speaker presentations, there were exhibits by more than 45 printers and other graphic arts suppliers. The inaugural event was modeled on print buyer conferences produced by PINC (Printing Industries of Northern California). Jim Frey, Executive VP of PINC, opened the speaker session with an insight to PINC and words of encouragement. Frey has produced numerous successful print buyer conferences on the West Coast. Dana gave two presentations at PINC's buyer conference in San Francisco earlier this year. She is due back for an encore next March. Robert McClements, Director of Showcase2005, said that "Margie Dana lived up to her headline billing as the US Goddess of Print!" One attendee, Andrew Black from London College of Communication, echoed the formal feedback scores when he called Margie "the star of the program, revealing many US/UK similarities but reminding printers that they need to 'dare to be different.'" One of the national print buyers at the showcase said that "Margie's message was inspiring and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck." "When I met Margie in San Francisco," noted McClements, "I knew she had to appear in our speaker program. Her presentation set the standard for the day. She has Big Hair, Big Ideas and she paints the Big Picture. The motto for our Showcase was Print: Buy, Sell, Create, Enjoy! Margie knows the full meaning of it all and knows how to help others do the same. The audience was delighted and enlightened." Dana is a former corporate print buyer turned consultant. Author of the Print Tip of the Week email column, which is distributed world-wide, she started her second business, Boston Print Buyers, in 2004. BPB is an association that provides networking and educational opportunities for professionals who work with the printing industry.
