HP Takes More Than 86 Orders for Digital Publishing Solutions at PRINT 05 Exhibition

PALO ALTO, Calif., October 10, 2005 – HP today announced record sales of its digital publishing solutions during the PRINT 05 exhibition, which ran Sept. 9–15 in Chicago. More than 86 orders were taken, amounting to nearly $33 million in sales and an additional projected $30 million over the next three years in supplies. HP’s complete range of digital color printing products and solutions for the graphic arts industry, as well as related software and hardware solutions from more than 20 partner companies, was on display at the show. The best selling product was clearly the HP Indigo press 5000, introduced earlier this year. This high quality digital press is PANTONE licensed for accurate reproduction of colors, producing up to seven colors for maximum color gamut. Print speeds reach 4,000 full color A4/letter size pages per hour and up to 16,000 A4 pages/letter size pages per hour for single-color printing. Some of the notable orders taken during the show included HP Indigo press 5000s to Color Craft (Sterling, VA), Graphic Partners (Zion, IL), Taylor Publishing (Dallas, TX), and a pair to Reischling Press (Seattle, WA). Approximately 30% of HP’s buyers at Print 05 were existing HP Indigo customers. “Marking the 4th anniversary of the acquisition of Indigo, PRINT 05 was a major show for HP. This year, not only did we launch our Graphics and Imaging Business unit, new digital presses and applications, and several key relationships for our digital publishing and large format printing businesses, we also decisively exceeded our sales goals,” said Stephen Nigro, senior vice president, Graphics and Imaging Business, HP. “This vote of confidence from our customers gives us tremendous momentum as we head into 2006.” HP announced several new products at PRINT 05, including: •the new web-fed HP Indigo press w3250 delivering print speeds of up to 136 pages per minute •an enhanced version of the popular HP Indigo press 5000 •HP Indigo Digital Matte Ink •an HP Indigo Lenticular 3D Application •the HP Indigo Production Stream Server powered by Creo •integration with workflow management solutions from Agfa and Heidelberg. HP also announced a strategic relationship with Seiko to develop wide format printers for the outdoor graphics market as well as new product bundles for creative professionals featuring HP Designjet large format printers and GretagMacbeth colorimeters and software.
