Oce CS7070 delivers true 600x600 dpi quality at production printing speeds on both rigid and flexible media

Press release from the issuing company

Venlo, the Netherlands, 19 September 2005 -- Oce announced today the Océ CS7070, a high-quality printer that uses UV curable inks to print on roll stock or rigid media. This hybrid printer can produce extremely durable, high quality output for outdoor and indoor applications. The Océ CS7070 is scheduled to be available in the fourth quarter of 2005, through select Océ offices and authorised distributors. The Océ CS7070 can print onto rigid substrates or flexible roll media up to 185 cm (73”) wide. Roller tables are included to print on rigid media up to 152 cm (60”) long. An optional set of roller tables is available, for printing on rigid media up to 305 cm (120”) long. Users can print directly onto a variety of uncoated rigid substrates such as foam-core style mounting board, PVC sheets, styrene, aluminium-plastic composites and more. The tables are easily detached to accommodate roll-based media such as vinyl banner media, pressure-sensitive adhesive films, papers and various textiles. Typical applications include indoor and outdoor point-of-purchase signage, vinyl and textile banners, exhibition displays and window graphics. The Océ CS7070 can print full bleeds onto rigid media, eliminating expensive laminating and time-consuming mounting steps. “The Océ CS7070 gives even lower-volume shops some of the same capabilities as their bigger competitors,” said Wilbert Verheyen, President of Océ Display Graphics Systems, Inc. “The ability to print onto both rigid and flexible media gives these shops the ability to compete on price and turnaround time. Being able to produce rigid or flexible prints on one piece of equipment enables these shops to grow their businesses with an affordable capital investment.” The Océ CS7070 utilises sixteen 600-dpi Micro-Quad™ piezo inkjet print heads, featuring a total of 1,536 jets to deliver high print speeds. It offers true 600 x 600 dpi resolution at print speeds of up to 37.1 m2 (400 ft2) per hour in Billboard Quality Mode. In Production Quality Mode print speeds of up to 18.6 m2 (200 ft2) can be achieved. A High Quality Mode is also available for printing at 9.3 m2 (100 ft2) per hour. Océ IJC700 UV curable, pigmented inks used in the Océ CS7070 are packaged in sealed, 3-liter containers. Since UV curable inks “cure” instead of “dry,” nozzle dropout caused by ink drying in the print heads is avoided, reducing maintenance and increasing printer productivity as the prints can be immediately handled after printing. UV curable inks image well on a wide range of media, and on certain materials can deliver better printing performance than solvent based systems. The Océ IJC700 UV curable inks offer vibrant, high quality output with an outdoor durability of up to three years depending on the application.
