HP and Agfa Announce Integration of HP Indigo Digital Presses with Agfa's :ApogeeX Workflow
Press release from the issuing company
Chicago, Ill (Print '05) – September 9, 2005 – HP and Agfa today announced that a new :ApogeeX Integration Pack has been created by Agfa to leverage the benefits of the :ApogeeX workflow in HP Indigo digital printing environments. Available immediately, this new workflow component enables the management of hybrid analog and digital workflows from a single system. This reduces production costs by eliminating redundancies and ultimately makes it easier for commercial printers to add digital printing to their conventional printing capabilities.
Users will now be able to combine analog and digital printing with HP and Agfa in one streamlined workflow and select their final output device later in the production process for a higher level of production management flexibility.
"We are excited to be working with one of the industry's top workflow providers to develop robust solutions for customers who want to efficiently combine their long-run offset and short-run HP Indigo operations under one roof," said Stephen Nigro, senior vice president, Graphics and Imaging Business, HP. "The HP /Agfa cooperation is an important reflection of the graphic arts market of the future – hybrid environments where documents are efficiently produced on the most appropriate device, without sacrificing quality or turnaround time."
At the PRINT 05 and CONVERTING 05 trade show in Chicago's McCormick Place, September 9-16, the :ApogeeX / HP Indigo integration will be showcased with an HP Indigo press 5000 at HP's booth #12005.
"This cooperation with HP shows Agfa's commitment to generating a single cohesive digital workflow environment. With :ApgeeX, printing companies will be able to merge all of their digital business, be it CtP, direct digital printing or large-format inkjet," said Richard Barham, Agfa's vice-president of worldwide marketing, Graphic Systems.
The new :ApogeeX Integration Pack for HP Indigo presses helps commercial printers improve their profitability and grow their digital page volume with:
PDF-based HP Indigo export capabilities
:ApogeeX pre-defined templates
HP Indigo color profiles
Hybrid production planning capabilities
ICC color management for HP Indigo presses with Harlequin RIPs, dual- or quad-HP Production Flow systems, or RIPs supplied with the HP Indigo press 5000
