Valassis to Dedicate Third Location in Livonia

Press release from the issuing company

LIVONIA, Mich., Aug. 29 -- Valassis, the leading company in marketing services and Connective Media, announced today the dedication and grand opening of its Customer Operations building, 38905 Six Mile Road, in Livonia to take place Monday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be attended by Livonia Mayor Jack Engebretson and city officials. A facility tour and open house will follow. "Valassis is a company on the move," said Alan F. Schultz, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valassis. "Last year we reached $1 billion in revenue for the first time in our history. The dedication of this new facility, in addition to the recent increase in our vacation time benefit and introduction of a new 401(k) match, illustrates our commitment to our employees and our future. We now have an environment in which our employees can thrive in pursuit of our Vision, enhancing collaboration, innovation and the use of technology across our divisions while focusing on our customers." The 55,000-square-foot building, purchased by Valassis for $4.1 million, was previously owned by Northwest Airlines. After extensive renovations were completed, including the addition of a doctor's office, hair and nail salon, fitness center, family room and other state-of-the-art amenities, approximately 250 employees were relocated to the new facility. The company currently is looking to fill over 100 open positions in locations around the globe. Valassis global headquarters, located on Victor Parkway, and its Anderson Printing Division on Schoolcraft Road combined with this, the company's third location within the city, make it Livonia's eighth largest employer with more than 900 employees. Valassis has been recognized as the only Michigan company to be named to FORTUNE magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" eight years in a row and twice noted as one of Metro Detroit's "101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For." In addition, in August 2005 Valassis was named as one of Michigan's "Cool Places to Work" by Crain's Detroit Business, placing 2nd in its category out of nearly 300 companies nominated by employees.
