MAN Roland-equipped newspapers sweep awards at flexo users group conference

Press release from the issuing company

Chattanooga, Tennessee — MAN Roland confirmed its position as a leading flexographic newspaper press provider at this summer’s Newspaper & Publication Flexo Users Group Conference. Six of the press maker’s flexographic customers, including those using MAN Roland-supported Hoe equipment, swept top honors in NPFUG’s annual FLEXO Awards. In the “Print Quality of a Submitted Product” competition, New Hampshire’s Concord Monitor took first place printing with a PEC converted HOE press with Hoe folder and Hoe RTPs. Second place went to Nebraska’s Lincoln Journal Star, which runs a MAN Roland FLEXOMAN. The Chattanooga Times Free Press, which hosted the conference this year, won third-place honors in the category. It prints on a FLEXOMAN with Hoe RTP’s. “Print Quality of a Test Form” saw three FLEXOMAN users take the podium positions. The Lincoln Journal Star came out on top, followed by Ohio’s Akron Beacon Journal and the Fort Wayne Newspapers of Indiana. It was a busy summer for The Chattanooga Times Free Press. In addition to its FLEXO Award, it finished first in a newspaper print contest sponsored by the Southern Newspaper Press Association (SNPA). “We have won over 16 print quality awards in the last three years alone in the US and Europe with the help of flexographic printing and MAN Roland presses,” says Frank Anthony, Production VP/Director of Operations for Chattanooga Times Free Press . “The most recent awards from SNPA and NPFUG are two more examples of how well we print. The simplicity of the process and the quality of the press make a winning team and make winning awards easy and fun.” Anthony believes that high quality results translate into better business: “A lot of newspapers assume that as long as you can show advertisers one well printed copy, they will believe all the copies went out at that level and be happy. With flexographic printing and MAN Roland presses we insure each and every copy of the newspaper goes out at a prize-winning level, which benefits our advertisers and our subscribers.” Vincent Lapinski, COO of Web Operations at MAN Roland Inc., congratulated all the winners, noting: “We are proud to offer our flexographic solutions to our customers who are leading the industry. When they continue to reach award-wining levels for their quality printing, it confirms that MAN Roland is offering the right technology solutions to the industry.”
