Press release from the issuing company

WEST CALDWELL, N.J., July 13 -- Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, along with EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced the release of MicroPress ProSeries(R) 7.0 production print software for multi-printer digital environments. MicroPress ProSeries 7.0 works with various Ricoh products, including the Aficio 2090 and Aficio 2105, Aficio 2232C and Aficio 2238C, Aficio Color 3131 and Aficio Color 6513 as well as the soon to be released connectivity for the Aficio 2051/2060/2075 Series. MicroPress ProSeries 7.0 Software helps a variety of customers, from corporate workgroups to high volume Print-on-Demand operations, realize greater workflow productivity and profits. "Ricoh continues to work with strategic companies such as EFI to provide superior document management solutions that allow end users to excel in the digital printing environment and outperform the competition," said Hede Nonaka, vice president of Marketing for Ricoh Corporation. MicroPress ProSeries 7.0 is a powerful server-based software production tool that can manage up to 12 black and white and/or color engines through one interface. By applying powerful digital prepress and workflow management across a multi-engine environment, MicroPress maximizes throughput and quality, generating cost savings and efficiencies throughout high volume digital printing environments. Significant new features of this server-based print distribution software include higher speed, added document composition, color management, and printer and job management capabilities, a powerful new media catalog, as well as simplified installation procedures that improve setup speed and eliminate installation errors. Additional information on the new capabilities of MicroPress ProSeries 7.0 includes: * Advanced Document Editing The MicroPress TrueEdit suite of make-ready tools dramatically improves productivity by automating manual processes such as hand collating, tab inserting, document renumbering and booklet creating. Users can prepare already RIPped documents for printing with total independence from the original application and author to make job and page-level changes. New in TrueEdit are ruler and guideline improvements that increase editing control, enhanced layout views make changes like tab or color insertions easier, and extensive page and chapter level support provide a visual representation that accurately reflects each page and allows for error-free document composition. * Easier, More Efficient Job Management The MicroPress Print Station Manager features a new intuitive interface that offers greater consistency and ease of use with EFI's end-to-end workflow solutions. Integration with EFI Digital StoreFront(TM) establishes a complete web-to-print workflow, allowing the seamless flow of job ticket information from web submission to print production. Significant media handling improvements are also available with the new Media Catalog feature, offering the ability to easily import, export and manage media entries. Media Catalog entries are universal to all engines as well as Digital StoreFront. Operators can map media descriptions to engine specific media types and trays, and even maintain finishing options when dragging RIPped jobs between engines. * On Screen Color Management The MicroPress TrueColor application allows users to adjust color at job, engine or queue level for easier color management. New real-time on screen views of color changes -- via curve adjustment or the new hue circle -- show the impact of those changes as they are made for instant visual feedback. Patented post-RIP calibration, color matching and image editing tools allow users to make fine tune adjustments quickly and easily for consistent color accurate results. * Availability EFI MicroPress ProSeries 7.0 Servers are now available through certified EFI reseller partners. ProSeries servers leverage the latest in platform and operating system technology, shipping on next generation Dell computers. "The MicroPress ProSeries 7.0 Software delivers the time-saving tools and workflow automation capabilities that enable customers to achieve unprecedented levels of productivity by maximizing the output of their digital printers," said Frank Mallozzi, vice president of sales and marketing, EFI. "Its flexible, scalable design provides a clear growth path toward future production demands."
